You can get this game for 30£ = $47 = 35€ (on Amazon.co.uk or somewhere else) if you search cleverly. Just ignore all shit DLC, dodge them for gods sake and wait till honest, true reviews are out. You don't need them to enjoy the main game and if you don't have them they can at least make your second playthrough a lot of fun. Horse armour only exists because todays ADHD gamers can't resist buying everything and became too weak for an actual boycott.

If you don't want the DLC just don't buy it
Only DLC I'll be buying is new missions/story, I won't be buying anything that is a weapon or costume, I didn't for ME2.

It aint really an issue with if you want it or don't want it. The issue here is with day one non-cosmetic, plot intensive DLC. The word unethical springs to mind.
The fact that they are going to be selling something, on the same day a game is released, instead of including it with the fucking game itself is fucking stupid.

Seriously, how do some people realize this now and not earlier? I tried to encourage everyone to read the leaked scripts as they will open your eyes how Bioware/EA is trying to rip us off. Can someone make me feel less of a scumbag? Last year we were just haters, now it's mainstream to hate Bioware. Credit to the pioneers who saw the truth already last year. We're no hipsters, we're no arrogant cunts, just crusaders.

The piece I latched onto from the leak that nobody really seemed to be bothered by was the line "Placeholder for the Sur'kesh DLC option that lets the councillor live". I mean seriously? Come on.

That was what Bioware said and DX_V and me were both replying: "That's just damage control." They tried to save what they could and keep the aftershocks as low as possible. Everything came true and that EDI / Joker dialogue from the voice cast teaser fits 1:1 the text from the leaked plot table.

What the flying christ, so they took one of the selling points of the game (Decisions that actually impacts the fucking storyline in the long term) and threw that shit out of the window just for more cash? Go die EA, leave Bioware alone and let them do their god damn work.

BioWare are clearly to blame for elements of the storyline that seem to be pandering to fans; primarily the dialogue you mentioned, as well as new romance options, along with some questionable plot decisions. However I'd imagine that the huge amounts of content that seem to be getting sliced out and sold separately are solely the fault of EA.

That actually makes me think of the squad setup and how bioware has handled it. They actually had officially announced the entire ME3 squad save for the prothean DLC and EDI since last spring, so they've had to go on for about a year saying "Oh dont worry guys, those other characters are in the game, just trust us" Damage control sounds about right.

Nah the new squadmate is the most irrelevant character according to the leak and can't even help you with the plot.
It's just a "muscle" or fighter character not a thinker like Mordin. The DLC itself is only about ~600 MB big like the Zaeed one. After one mission the character will probably start rotting on your ship due to the limited dialogue options.

I'm not. If I want it I'll get it, I'm not going to bitch about how it should have been in the game in the first place I'll just not buy it. I frankly don't give a shit if they made it during development, if its worth the cost I'll probably get it if I can.

Man I understand your complaints as much as anyone, it's moderately annoying that the story quality has fallen like this since the first game, but for the love of fuck stop trying to discourage other people from enjoying the game.
Don't buy it and go write yourselves a fanfic the way you want it, maybe you'll feel better.

This isn't about story quality; the discussion is about the decision to remove a significant plot point from the base game, in order to make an extra $10 off consumers.
CAN they do it? Absolutely. SHOULD they be doing it? No, absolutely not. And if developers make money off the practice, then there's no end to it.

I do not regret cheating my multiplayer demo. Even with the packs costing me 1 credit each, I had to buy THIRTY TWO veteran packs to get the salarian infiltrator.

The optional DLC is of a gimmicky character with few lines of dialogue. Comparing it to entire plotlines is just so fucking asinine I can barely describe it.

Hmm, I don't recall bonus characters in ME2 being a significant plot point from the the base game, this is the exact same thing. You are basing your opinion off of assumptions.

I haven't read the script leaks, and I don't plan to, so is this "Prothean" character really that important, or are they another Zaeed/Kasumi? Are they really a Prothean ? In ME2 it was mentioned that the Collectors were highly altered and no longer resembled their ancestors, like in the beacon visions in ME1, so it might not really be what it's claimed to be.
Though if the script specifically states that in fact, it is, then surely it's better for such canon-altering DLC to be just that, optional DLC?

That is awesome, lots of people were complaining that Bioware was too lazy or didn't care enough to make a Femshep Cover. Nice to see they actually did.

Bioware took content from the finished game, pulled it out, and charged extra for it. What's there not to get? It's a character who should've been vital to Mass effect's lore ignore all the ass pulls surrounding it and they made it into an optional gimmick to milk the franchise.

The character was gimmicky in the first place. Even if it was ripped from the game, it's not like you're missing much anyways.
Plus unless there's oodles of dialogue that they're not going to use, I doubt the character's particularly expansive to begin with.

Yeah, but you got Zaeed with any purchase, and kasumi was just a thief. This character is SIGNIFICANTLY more important to the Mass Effect lore and can only be accessed by paying $10 after launch or buying the collector's edition.

I think it's the fact that such a major and mysterious race in Mass Effect Lore has been diminished to 'DLC' is the problem.

That's because they're locked for the demo. One of the universal things gibbed did was unlock them. However, it's also an autoflag for ding dong bannu.

video game developers aren't your friends, they're making games to both tell a story and turn a profit(more one than the other for most devs) because money is more useful than friendship. If you can't adapt to that and get pissed off when a dev charges for something extra then I dunno what to tell you guys..
