Listening to The Wall for the first time since Roger Waters.
Roger's vocals are a million times better nowadays, also my mind is full of memories, and fuck from the memories.

No, Akayz is right. It's tapes and lipsync, with the exception of a few songs (Comfortably Numb because it's an easily spoken song.)
Watch at In the Flesh? from several different shows and it's painfully obvious.

If Roger didn't just stop being creative for 20 years, I'd have more respect. But it seems that he's sad he wasn't popular and respected as he was in the 70s.
Now I think he may have the confidence to release one.

Even in the 70s, Roger Waters wasn't that popular and respected. It was the name Pink Floyd that was popular and respected (as evidenced in the song Have a Cigar.)
This is why Gilmour and co. wanted to continue under the Floyd banner after Waters left because it was easier for them to continue their rock careers that way, instead of being a solo artist (which Roger obviously found hard, playing to a half full theater while Pink Floyd was playing at sold out stadiums) or starting a totally new band.
I think in the Howard Stern interview, Roger mentions that before they broke up, they let the security of the name Pink Floyd get to them which was one of the factors that caused all that drama.

Are you referring to the Youtube recording where he yells "AND YOU" horribly out of synch? If you'd have read the comments you'd see that it was the fault of the recorder who accidentally messed up the audio synch.
The Sinead O'Connor thing was due to a massive bloody foulup with the recording, the power went out twice, so they wanted her to come out and lipsynch to the recording of the dress rehearsal, but she refused, so they used the recording of the dress rehearsal for the DVD instead.
Not all songs. From what i can tell, Run Like Hell, One Of My Turns, Waiting For The Worms, and The Trial are all lipsynched. Although it's clear from closeup recordings he still sings along to the recording of The Trial, just as he did in the eighties.
The other songs are likely due to inability to hit the high notes any more. To prevent another travesty like Berlin's Run Like Hell etc.

Notice how I said several different shows, and not one in particular. In the Flesh? is so damn obvious. I've noticed all the inflections in the vocal track that is shared by all the amateur recordings from several different shows.
I bet if I ripped the audio from several different Youtube videos of songs from his shows, threw them in Audacity, they'd line up perfectly.

Face it dude, he's faking it. I knew that he was even when I went to see him live, but honestly that did not take away my enjoyment, because the show is fucking awesome in its own right.
But anyone who believes that he can still sing like that on tour is living in a fantasy world.
He did surprise me however, performing In the Flesh? with the Foo Fighters on Jimmy Fallon that one time.

Ok I have definitive proof that Roger Waters lipsynchs at his shows. Here is two performances of In the Flesh? The one from a show in Toronto is panned to the left. One from the o2 in London is on the right.

I'm not denying he lipsyncs but he only syncs songs where it'd be impossible for him to hit the high notes anymore. I'd prefer he lipsyncs Run Like Hell than we have another Berlin RLH where he's literally straining to sing.

Now come to think of it, that's pretty bad if he still has to lip sync Run Like Hell on his current tour, because on top of the that, its also transposed down a couple of steps from the original key it's in on the album version.

The lipsynching of Waiting For The Worms is stupidly obvious however, It's the eighties vocals.
It's surprising how he completely lipsynchs the megaphone vocals, since from bootlegs you can tell he sang the megaphone lyrics back in the eighties.

I know you're right about the lip-syncing and he has a history with it, but I just can't accept it. I'd expect some shithead upstart pop singer to do that so they can make money with half the effort, but when it's a guy like Roger, a true relic and veteran of rock, I expect him to actually sing, I don't care what age has done to his voice, I just want to hear him live.

Oh christ i'm thinking of another audio thing altogether, The album version is a semitone and a half higher in pitch than all other officially-released versions, including the Movie version.
A curiosity in itself: The movie's versions of the songs are all in 5.1 surround sound, and a semitone and a half lower in pitch. Which makes me wonder why they never released the movie soundtrack on its own, it's a damn shame.

It's they also mixed it very differently than the album version, ie some instruments are a lot 'closer' and drier.

Just got A Momentary Lapse of Reason - yet another album that I don't understand why there's so much hate surrounding. There's not a single song on there I don't enjoy. Sure the songs definitely are in an 80's pop/rock tone, but I personally enjoy that.
And on the topic of The Wall's immersion set, dat Young Lust demo.

You can't actually think it's as well constructed as something like Meddle. It's enjoyable, sure.. but at times I wish it wasn't Pink Floyd.

I do agree that DSOTM and their older albums do have a bit more meaning. Gilmour's lyrical abilities aren't as good as Roger's (Or Syd's) in my opinion.

I could never get into the Berlin iteration of Run Like Hell(by far one of my favourite Wall songs) but lately i've really grown to love it for its visuals and the "show" of it. it's a shame roger's current shows rely on the big screen and not like, marching soldiers and stuff like Berlin.
