Well, upon further research, Sins of a Solar Empire is only available to buy with expansion nowadays, so in order for us older folks to catch up, we have to buy either Sins of A Solar Empire Trinity or the expansions individually, but they both cost $20.
So either way we're each stuck paying $20 to all play together. Can't blame anyone if they can't join in.
