its not fucking hard to make a damn gearbox mold. The bushings didnt fit right, I tried 3 motor cages and none would attach properly. I had to shim the bevel gear a good 0.9mm to make it flush.

You can put metal bb's in a standard airsoft gun. Its just not recommended.
It would hurt a robber, but it would mostly just piss them off. You'd want a real air rifle or bowie knife for home defense.

Options are limited to blank firing guns or a shotgun.

Remember that it's legal to own a shotgun in the UK, as long as you've got a clean criminal record a police alerting alarm and somewhere to store it securely.

Tell him to get a shotgun. That's about as good of a home defense weapon as you can get in the UK. A BB gun will do jack shit, even the metal bb ones, nor will there ever be one to make a loud enough bang to make it sound like a real gun.

I'd get their new electronic blowback SCAR-L. Its kinda meh looking, but they retooled their hopup to shoot significantly better.
Anything that makes a marui hop better gets my attention.

You need an airgun, airsoft guns won't really fend off anyone, unless you aim for the eyes.

You can do some serious damage with high powered airguns meant for competition use / small game hunting. And they do look intimidating sometimes. But they're usually regulated by the law, you need to find out more about it by yourself.

See, this is what i reckon would actually be of use, only as intimidation factor. It's actually worked one or two times for me, albeit not a robber. Get a realistic looking GBB pistol, metal, what have you. Fill it with gas. Shoot it a few times in the robber's direction if they keep moving. This is because certain GBBs are loud as fuck and when you're breaking into a house you hear anything closely resembling a gun you bolt your ass out of there, unless of course you're hopped up on heroin or something. And make sure to hold it in a stance that makes it look like you know what you're doing with it, don't teacup it or practically bend over backwards holding it. 'Course, if it doesn't work you're fucked.

I recently got my first pump gun for shooting trap and what not (Remington 870 12ga.) and just the sound of the action when you rack the bolt will make any robber shit his pants. Especially when somebody breaks into a house they have so many thoughts and emotions going through their head and when they hear that that noise of the shotgun they will most likely get out of there immediately.

Im not too keen on the UK gun laws but I would say a shotgun of some sorts would be your best bet.
Seriously airsoft doesn't need to get more shit in the UK as you guys already have it bad with the neon guns and UKARA.
