I think they're just jelly because it has more than 200k downloads, and how it's hurting the competing products, i just don't see how an incomplete model without textures could do that.
I bet Ajacks can relate to this.
It's my first time looking at turbosquid and holy shit.

Turbo squid is the prime example of throwing prices on shit you made and hoping for sales. Some of the items on sale make sense and are very well made, while others are pokeball's priced at 24 bucks.

hey, I was kind of learning 3d modelling at some point then dropped because I just got pissed off too much with my Core 2 Duo being slow. before I had:
    Core 2 Duo 2.4 Ghz E4600
    4 GB DDR2 Ram 800Mhz
    HD5770 GPU
Installed on a shitty old 5000rpm HDD.

    Now:
    i5 2500k 3.4 Ghz
    HD5770 (didn't replace it's still good)
    6 GB DDR3 1333Mhz Ram
Installed on Intel 520 Series SSD.

I know that probably only CPU matters but just in case:
Will my performance any fast? like anyone who's using 2500k for rendering? is it any good?

    Here:
    http://www.anandtech.com/show/4955/t...x8150-tested/7

As you can see the 2500k performs excellent when it comes to rendering for private usage.
The only downside I can see is the amount of RAM you have.
You'll be bottlenecked when you start rendering complex scenes that includes simulation and advanced lightning.

I see, is there any way to optimize the speed? Like overclock cpu or something?

Sure, I brought my FX-8150 from 3.6GHz to 4.2 GHz.
A good cooler is important though.

Also, working on a scene for an intro :)
It appears brighter then it is though.

Even when using subdivision modelling, it's pretty important to remember how hard edges are in real life, you need to keep those edges a bit tighter if you want to make it look like metal.

It's looking good but the guitar itself doesn't seem to be reflecting anything which makes it look a bit weird. It's especially noticable on the tuning keys where they're pretty much all black.

Made this piece of promotional art for my group's game at a student games showcase in Toronto which is set to take place on Monday. I don't have much experience with rendering, but I like how it turned out.

I made a really low-poly watch for a mod project. Then I made a UV in MS Paint.

I gave up on actually making the watch for the project long before this. This was just me dicking around. I'll work on the real watch tomorrow.

Collapse the symmetry modifier by right click, collapse to.
.. and the teacher didn't tell me that. Gaht dang it.

Can I add some of you guys on Steam for questions regarding Max?

It's so nice of Autodesk to let students get it for free.

So what programs do I/should I get for just modeling, texturing, and animation?

Too get the parts you want seperately unwrapped, just select the polys and apply a planar map which re organises the seams around the area you selected, then you can place the seams where you want.

Or if you really don't like the clutter (more suited for higher geometry models, like characters), just select the polygons you want to unwrap first, then apply the unwrap modifier with the polygons still selected, then when you've done that part, move it away from the centre area and make it an editable poly again (don't worry, it saves what you've done)

    Edited:

Also that extra slice you've made in the middle isn't really needed.

With some basic modifiers, you could also make damaged versions. Just need a new AO, probably.

How do you people make such sexy textures? I'd love to be able to have the time to model and texture, and making realistic textures would definitely be a plus (I'm only ok at mimicking TF2's artstyle).
