guys I think I broke smoothing
guys I think I broke smoothing
I wanna eat it.
I was extremely bored so I recreated a pen on my desk including the logo just for some general UV training.

That nib looks really small.
thats what she said
I think you're better off with the 580 man...at least if you're going to do any rendering with it.
-snip-
WTF why have I never seen this thread before? I started modeling 3 weeks ago, and fell IN LOVE with it I have been using blender and it's good I am contemplating making the jump into Maya or 3DS but am not sure. I'll post a few models in a little while.
Polygon distribution is very strange. Particularly when comparing the front wheel thing and the rear of the door. Other than that, it looks amazing. Are you using a reference?
I was going to render a mandelbrot but the program decided not to play along, waste of computation time.
Just to let you guys know, finished the film and got our grades back today. I'm now the proud owner of a first class honours degree in animation :D
Thanks for all the feedback and encouragement. Like I said before, I'll post up a private link next week after the degree show for you all to see.
Yeah, I'm using blueprints and loads of pictures. I'm working on the polygon distribution![]()
It's only my first car.
It's this car btw:

my first lightsaber:
my first model(that I saw through to actual finish)
first head shaped object:
my main project right now it's a capital ship still WIP I don't want to continue until I learn more:
a bullet
some cannons for the ship
and right now I am working on a mech as a side project I just started it today:
let me know what ya'll think!
P.S. I am rather a Fan of low polygon models
Awesome dude! I can't wait to watch it!
would someone be willing to become my teacher on steam? so If I have a question I can message you?
After taking a look at all the beginner tutorials, i began my very first model. A simple soda can:
.
Next im going to try my very first texturing, a simple coke texture.
Ok so i clicked new texture, image, then tried to load a Coka Cola image so it runs across the can, but it says "Failed to load image". What do...
try a different format?
I tried different file size, png, gif, nothing works :/
Screen cap your materials and textures tab.
Jesus man, if this is you when you are 'relatively new' I can't wait to see what you will accomplish later on. Great job!
I never understood this.. the website they got talk about it as if its real life or whatever, but clearly it's fake. What's the damn use of the website
Same as all fictional literature.
What's the point of books or movies or video games then? They're all fake.
It is for something called 'fun'. Really the whole point of the website is to give and intresting and fun story to read, it is not trying to be real it is trying to be entertaining. I can't ever say it is really creepy pasta anymore, just a really fun story stringed together by multiple users.
what's this thing called fun you are talking about?
"This Harry Potter book I have speak about magic as if it was real, what the fuck is wrong with it"
get out my head
Time to mix some fluid particles with different mass, viscosity and stiffness.
Thanks! It's really not all that impressive though, I've just spent too much time learning about rendering/lighting when I could be learning advanced modelling techniques or texturing, which is what I'll tackle next. :)
It's looking good, so I'd say finish it. I would add more knobs and switches though, to make the silhouette more interesting.
I've never got that about Deviantart...
So you say someone liked my work and now I have to give them a cookie for it? And they're expecting me to...otherwise I'm rude? Really...
Edit: I'm glad if someone likes what I've done but it's their choice if they do or not and favoriting shouldn't be awarded in my opinion.
That's pretty much how it works on dA. People favouriting a ton of stuff, regardless of what it is, to get page views themselves.
Was speaking to TJ062 last night and he was giving me a ton of help and tips on High to Low poly modelling and baking normals, so i'll be trying to employ a bunch of them in this new model:
It's a Ramen Cart.
Arrrrghh I really want to get into this! I have access to Max and Maya but I don't have te bandwidth capacity to watch tutorials.
Anyone have any suggestions?
What? nobody expects people to give them stuff, he had lightsaber designs in his gallery and I liked one of them which I decided to make.
More models
my mech V2 the first one was shit this second one is "meh" at best
first render, a quick build of the frame
second render. added some minor details
third render, added all details and more weapons, I am not sure what else to do with it besides add textures and color.
