The obvious solution to check is to take the working bulb and put it into one of the other holders, thereby ruling out any other electrical issue should the bulb work.

Turns out my roll pan isn't coming in, sucks that it took 3 weeks to find this out thought. Going to slap my old bumper on it for now and drive it that way, I'll build a roll pan for fabrication class.

Also thank god for kijiji and the crazy rednecks who would buy anything in there. Some guy wants to give me $350 for the hideous racer back (with a badly airbrushed ram on it!) and my line visor; I'm going to see if I can get something arranged tomorrow with the guy.

Apparently Civic D series axles have the same tranny splines as DSM axles.

My mind has been fucking blown.

Not only that but the Honda dizzy bolts to a 4G63 if you make a bracket to hold it on.

And you can run a 4G63 off of a Honda ECU as well.

    ...

I think I found out what swap I want to do.

Probably need one for uni, ferd ranger would be a nice daily driver but doesn't get too good highway mpg

It's kind of a hybrid between DSM and Honda stuff

Basically D series axles are a perfect fit for the 4G63 transmission from Mitsubishi, and perfect length if you set the motor right. And an OBD0 distributor can be used if you make a mounting ear. The only thing you have to fab up is a clutch mechanism and splice the sensors from the 4G63 into the harness (you can use a Honda MAP, or GM 3 BAR MAP, whatever you want, too, which is SO much better than the DSM MAF).

Basically putting a really badass motor into a really badass platform, the hardest part is clutch. Some mounts will have to be hacked and welded but that's nothing compared to some of the crazy honda swaps.

I think I'm really set on this. I need to find a donor Eclipse/Talon/Laser with a 5 speed in it, non turbo is fine.

Man, when I order a ROM from Xenocron, they are going to flip. Haha.

"What engine type are you running?"

    "4G63"

    "I-...Is... Is that a D series or B series?"

I'm definitely considering this at this point though. If I stumble on a cheap cheap cheap DSM (Maybe run across one with no title, idgaf) I will be DEAD SET on doing this. Everything I need will be on the donor car -- The clutch pedal and lines, shifter and cables, engine + tranny, sensors, stock mounts to hack up and whatnot.

The only full build thread I could find, the guy shortened an axle on the driver's side by an inch and lengthened the passenger axle by half an inch -- I deem this unnecessary, as I looked at his build pretty well and he mounted the motor approximately 3/4" to 1" too far from the driver's side mounting point. I think with a better mount stock axles will be plug and play.

The reason I want to do this is because the 4G63, I feel, is a far better platform than Honda engines. They are more finicky when it comes to problems, but they produce far more power. The Honda B20B produces 126hp, is the same capacity as the 4G63, same layout (DOHC I4), but the lowest end 4G63 produces 135hp.

In turbo form, with the small turbo they ran on the 1G, the 4G63 produced 180hp in automatic form (smaller turbo) and 195hp in manual. You'd have to get a GSR B18C to get that kind of power out of a stock Honda engine, and the B18C pushes the limits of the N/A B series platform. The second generation eclipse put out 210hp in turbo form, which you can't get in any easily obtainable platform with the 4th generation Civic.

It's just something I'd like to do. I had seen the swap before but never realized it was so easy. I'm ready for it. It'll be awesome.

Anything with 4WD is a clear winner if you need it for lots of snow travel. Subaru is always a good
choice, albeit a bit expensive because they are becoming popular.

Getting a manual transmission early 90s truck will get pretty good mileage. Especially if it's a Toyota
like a Hilux or something, they were known to get pretty good mileage.

Unfortunately, the Ford Ranger/Chevy S10/etc in 4WD get pretty bad mileage. Sub-20 even.

Not... true... even though I got into my upstanding dark colored friend's car the other day and the seats
were very far reclined.... surely coincidence

    Manual trans subies, A pre-1995 4-cyl Wrangler with an M/T, old 4-cyl 4WD Ranger or S10 M/T, mid 80s Toyota Hilux.

We had an '03 2WD 5-speed V6 Ranger that averaged 20-23MPG. The highway mileage was likely hovering around 25-26.

An I4 ranger 4WD would get really good MPG.

Hahaha, not an early 90s one. I had a Chevy S10 2WD and it got around 20mpg average. The 4WD version was a bit less but mine was an auto so I assume the 5speed 4WD gets same mileage as the auto 2WD.

Rangers weren't much better either, maybe by an MPG or 2.

So an i4 4WD Ranger would get maybe around 21-22 average. They are EPA rated for around 18-19 MPG city.

My cousin got a new Tacoma and it averages 30mpg. That's better than my Prelude. =_=

Anyone know of some nice ways to strip paint off of a plastic lens (basically) without harming the plastic itself?

These fuckers, found below the main headlights:

Mine are painted black, with just spray paint, and i want to basically like i said strip the paint off without harming the plastic.

Just looked, replacement lenses are rare as fuck, and if you can even find them (Only found one on ebay) they seem to cost upwards of 300 bucks...So yeah. Any ideas?

Try using a bit of thinner or alcohol on it first hand, let it act a few mins, then do a wet sand on those lights, it's going to remove the paint for sure, think of a process to clean the yellow/fog out of headlights.

Funny story for you guys, today at my University a "pimp" 89 impala with 28 inch wheels encountered a small problem today. While cruising and blasting crappy rap at obnoxious volume, the front two wheels literally popped off. It's a story that everyone is laughing at all over campus.

What the fuck could have caused it besides someone purposely unscrewing all the deadbolts?
