For those who dunno what it is, its a Panther Eye, a HL1 Beta alien that was Scrapped for some stupid reason, but it was actually a good idea IMO. Maybe it could be remade in EP3 or HL3.

I'd like to see them again. Antlions and headcrabs have been the only animal type enemies for a while now. The change in setting is a good excuse for them to add something new, too.

I think some enemies were "cut" from HL1 (or HL2) because they were simply not interesting (in Valve's eye) to make it in the game...
So, don't expect to see Mr.Friendly, Kingpin, Panther Eye, or Stukabat, Cremators... in other places than some mods...
(Panther Eye appears in Azure Sheep and Point of View).

I mean, you know how work Valve : they can create a super "cool" enemy/boss (visually), but if they find their creation "boring", they just cut it up. That's their way.
HL2 : Raising the Bar + Marc Laidlaw Vault (on SPUF) are two interesting databases on how much content was completly scrapped.

We still have the "chance" to have the cut content in free access, at least -_-

(Personally, I still miss that giant "Antlion King"... That would have been a cool boss battle, maybe Gonarch-style... Since the HL2 era, "boss battles" are nearly non-existent, besides some generic enemy becoming suddenly "special"... (like the Strider in the end of Ep1, and the StriderS in the end of Ep2).

Still, you cant deny the Panther Eye looks awesome, if the Valve developers were going to reimplement a cut alien into the series, it better be either the Panther Eye or the Bullsquid.
