HOW TO BEGIN YOUR LAST.FM JOURNEY
[release]1. Sign Up yourself a last fm account: http://www.last.fm/join
2. Download the scrobbler: http://www.last.fm/download
3. It's compatible with win-amp, itunes and windows media player (other players need a plugin).
4. Stick your account details in there and GET LISTENING! Check your music details (tags) are correct, and the scrobbler should pick it up like this: http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o...ps3c6286ba.png
5. Come back here after a week and fool around with the tools.
6. After a long while, your library will generate a radio which people can listen to, in order to get an idea of your tastes: http://www.last.fm/listen/user/Akayz7/personal (don't listen to it, it's pretty wack)[/release]

tips: The last.fm database isn't built by the people who work there, it's built by YOU. If you see a few album covers missing, help out by uploading them and voting good quality ones.

SOME INFO posted:
Using a music recommender system called "Audioscrobbler", Last.fm builds a detailed profile of each user's musical taste by recording details of the songs the user listens to, either from Internet radio stations, or the user's computer or many portable music devices. This information is transferred to Last.fm's database ("scrobbled") either via the music player itself (Rdio, Spotify, Amarok) or via a plugin installed into the user's music player. The profile data is then displayed on the user's profile page. The site offers numerous social networking features and can recommend and play artists similar to the user's favourites.

The links with ellipsis are broken, ellipsis ends up in the url.

Edited:

Also, would be handy to set aside the genderplot, 3x3 generator and whichever forum favourites there are in the OP.

Nah, my top 50 has evened out since last year.

It's kinda dumb how it only takes your top 50. But oh well.

5 of my top eight for this week are female vocalists gosh.
Should go by plays of the artists rather than just the artists.

Why can't it be more complicated and thus more accurate. I am outraged.

It's not bad, but it needs to be updated. It's currently preventing me from updating tapmusic.net/lastfm to include the 1 month time period.

that universal scrobbler is cool too, I've been using a program like it called cogscrobbler for a while... last time i saw that thing they only let you do individual tracks, might switch to it now.

Also, I apparently made $22.33 from ads alone last month, which is actually enough to pay for the month. I'M FINALLY SELF-SUSTAINING.

The Super-Eclectic calculator is bugging the crap out of me.

Is it based solely on online scrobbles and also never updates or something?

It's saying Soundgarden is my most listened with 15 listens, and even with online-scrobble only I have artists with like 50+ listens. What are you doing, Liekens?

It counts the times they appear most in the "similar artists" chart thing.

I just wish they could modify it to show weekly, 3/6/12 monthly as well. I want to know how eclectic my taste is currently, not from 1.5 years ago.
