Just got a Droid 4. In case you're wondering what the camera's like:

It's what you'd expect. The resolution is good, but there's no making up for how cheap the censor is.

Pretty sure OGG on Android supports gapless. Not sure on that. MP3 doesn't for sure, but I don't think MP3 supports gapless properly anyhow.

So i finally have enough money for a new phone, should i go for a Galaxy Nexus or the Galaxy S2?
    Or maybe another phone?
Either SGS3 or HTC One series.

    Edited:

Free RAM is wasted RAM. If the application has to start from scratch, it will consume more power than if it reloads from a cached process.

ALSO, SGS CM9 build 0419 switched emmc and sdcard around, to match CM and general Google standard. Samsung had it switched the other (incorrect) way.

ALSO2, if you're using a non-cm kernel, WAIT FOR AN UPDATE before flashing 0419. Here's why.
Free RAM is wasted RAM to a certain extent. The problem is that what's quoted as "Free RAM" often contains filesystem cache, and cutting into filesystem cache will cause lots of lag as it gets dumped and the phone has to rely on emmc and SD card instead of on-die RAM.

    Edited:

wouldn't those be way over my price range

I mean the new transformer prime is out and that's $500 compared to its $350 Tegra 2 predecessor

    Edited:

in comparison would the Kindle fire be a better choice
There's Tegra 3s like the Asus MeMo or something, it was going to be 7" 250 USD Tegra 3, but rumors are that it was scrapped for the Nexus Tablet that Asus is supposedly working on.

    Edited:

    It says Display is 69%.
I only use the phone for music for about 4 hours a day, while I'm commuting, but surely that wouldn't leave me with like 15% battery at 6pm
Install BetterBatteryStats, charge the phone fully and unplug before you go to bed, and then check the app in the morning and look for partial wakelocks and kernel wakelocks. Those will be your primary problems.

    Edited:

Well on my Galaxy Note the browser gets killed all the time, and it has 1 GB of RAM too.
Look into V6 Supercharger, there are tools in the script that will let you override Android OOM killers and keep things locked in memory like your browser.

    Edited:

Jesus christ, I found the fix to battery problems.

I carry around a 5000 mAh battery pack, 2 days of pretty intense usage is no longer hard to achieve (Think gaming a metric fuckton on the device, constant push IM/Email, 4 hour sync on many pull accounts, large amounts of forum/web browsing.

    I think 4 days isn't a problem if I really wanted to.

just tested it and nope. MP3 doesn't inherently support but it's easy enough to work around that.

it's pretty pathetic that Android doesn't have gapless playback. that's like basic standards right there.

I'm not sure. when I hit the power button the screen would flash for a millisecond and turn back off. I did a battery pull and the phone wouldn't get past the "M" on the screen. After about the 5th time flashing, it finally worked.

    Almost had a heart attack.

Oh man, Just my luck. They released an update just a few minutes ago.

Also, apps should not have "Exit" buttons, it's against how Android works.

Custom ROMs (CyanogenMod for example) do this. There's a setting that you can enable, then hold the back button within an app and it will get killed.

Since my digital cam died quite a few months ago, I'm using my Galaxy S2 camera as a primary. It's pretty great for a phone cam.

    Edited:

PyroCF: Woah, it's a feature of ICS? I thought it was a custom setting in unofficial ROMs.

Rumors that this is the galaxy S 3. WTF is it doing in vietnam

Samsung's Galaxy SIII is due to launch officially on May 3rd. We've already seen some blurry images of what might be the phone—but now an even more convincing example has surfaced in Vietnam.
Engadget reports that the handset showed up on Vietnamese site Tinhte—though the original page is now down. No worries: we still have the pictures and specs that were leaked.

    According to the leak, the phone—going by model number GT-I9300—packs: a 720 x 1184 4.6-inch display (that's 320 DPI), a quad-core 1.4 GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, a 2,050mAh battery, an 8-megapixel camera and 16GB of storage.

There also appears to be some kind of plastic rim around this leaked device, making it look slightly larger than it actually is and disguising the edge of the handset.

It's difficult to know for certain if this is the real deal, but the images certainly look more convincing than a lot of leaks we see. Also, Tinhte has in the past scooped both the current-gen iPad and the original Galaxy Tab prior to their official release—so it has strong past form.

you might be a bit disappointed with the camera or maybe with the performance if you really stress the phone; the screen problem is just blown out of proportion, you aren't going to hold your phone at 3 inches from your face, and at normal distance, the high pixel density makes up for it I think

Listening to a few radio stations with TuneIn whilst reading to focus (easily distracted through sound), but the music is just a bit too loud.

Is there a way to get to even lower volume levels with the phone?

Even if it isn't the best phone in the market it is still a high end phone, which means that things like playing 3D games shouldn't be a problem at all.

I only really use mine for hipster instagram bullshit.

I also have a Pogo printer that I can bluetooth photos to, really handy for documenting my work in a dinky little sketchbook. Otherwise no.

My Atrix has a pentile display and it's fine most of the time, but it really shows if you ever have the phone closer than 30cm away. Since the Nexus has a higher res screen it might not be so bad. Perhaps go in to a phone shop and have a look, see what you think.

I can manage to get GTA III working pretty well nearly maxed out (720p, high settings, max also works but sometimes has framerate issues). Probably not the most demanding game out there for Android, but it works really well. I don't think 3D games are going to be an issue on the Galaxy Nexus for some time yet.
