What the hell happened to this thread?
Thanks for the input, I'll work on it!
No I think that's more of a cyan wire.
Unban, he's a hilarious and witty poster.
Instead just let him post only in this thread for very limited hours of the day so there's something hilarious to do between submissions.
You're thinking of atmospheric perspective.
everything explodes when I'm asleep
solution, even more caffeine
or maybe I should cut out a pair of these kawaii eyes and stick them to my glasses and sleep in my chair

a wip, rip icecream :(
c&c would be appreciated!!!

yes i know that the ice cream doesnt really look like ice cream but i couldnt figure out how to draw it so i just left it
I had spines on the mind, in both senses of the word. Tried to combine it into a quick landscape.
Spines and Spines.
< A Free Reference Icecream Cone
I might make the inside of the indents less dark, and making the background less saturated because it's kind-of hard on the eyes. You pointed out the icecream doesn't look like icecream, so that's why I gave you the reference cone.
looks more like a landscape made of giant feathers
cool
It's got a really nice collage-look to it. I know you probably didn't intend that, but it's good

Wake up, 99 new posts, expect something awesome to have happened, very disappointed
pfff like if.

lots of posts=drama.
Another portrait of my friend who does make up modeling n stuff. Took the references myself back in Dubai a couple of weeks ago in preparation for a water color painting, originally intended to be done with graphite and water color, but I no longer have my supplies so I just did it digitally. Might do the water color version/oil painted version if I have the time/supplies.

Looks kind of like Detlef's style. (except not an underweight longfaced male)

dont take that the wrong way
is there a right way to take it.

drawing pretty females all the time is ok, drawing pretty guys is not :I
After making them two more logos and tracing and vectorizing their original concept logo (because that seemed to be the only possible thing that would make them happy), they decided to "go in another direction (IE- the original JPEG of the concept "art" itself)."
So much for any revenue whatsoever from merchandising in Oklahoma City for the Welcome Home foundation. Not a single shirt, button, or hat will be sold with that thing plastered on it.
Also, so long for my commission. :(
Oh well, I've got four other cities lined up waiting for logos right now. I guess you can't win 'em all. This client was fuckin' impossible.
kinda rude
try drawing a handsome man instead of a pretty man
Handsome men are generally more square then pretty oval men.
People said the same thing about the guys I used to draw in school, so I deviated and it ended up being a lot more fun than just drawing the same-looking faces all the time. You get more experience with stuff you don't pay as much attention to. It helps a lot with characters when you give them different traits because you slowly learn what traits make people look certain ways and how you can get a "feeling" from looking at a character.
Politically Incorrect Fun Fact: People can usually pick out a criminal's face out of a bunch of people's faces. Even if they're all clean-shaven, and with no tattoos or piercings or otherwise differentiating features. They're still studying the reason as to why this is. Could be expression, or maybe something else that people subconsciously pick up on.
Also, there are a ton of studies going on relating to human differentiation, what people consider "attractive", how people interpret different faces, voices, bodies, etc. and a lot more that's tons of fun to read about if you're feeling up to exploring differentiating your drawings.
then again this is about the 10th time you've been asked to change it up
You can draw what you want to detlef. You can leave your friends behind!
because they ask ten times, and if they ask ten times, then they're no friend of...mimes
You and your multitude of pretty friends.
The eyeball on the left has a bit odd of shading. It looks like there is a bulge to the left of the iris. Maybe smooth out the shading a bit there.
the highlights around her eyes make her skin look reeeeally really oily but i like the rendering and warm shadows
Thanks for the feedback, I noticed the off shading in the eyes as well, I'll fix those up real quick when I'm back home.
And Chesty, what should I do to make it look less oily I don't see it that well.
i just think those highlights around her eyes are too large. i like the sharpness of them because they draw the viewer to the eyes but the size of them implies to me that there is some sort of really large pores or some sort of oil that is catching the light strongly, which in turn implies to me that the skin is not clean or there's some sort of badly applied make-up there or something
only around the eyes though. the rest is fine. but maybe it's just me
I think it's that the highlights are too big to be pores, yet blotchy to the degree that they look like they were supposed to be. If not, then something like oil flicked on the face.
I'll try doing a quick touch up on it, thanks guys:)
Does "creative work" include short stories? Whatever, here's a super-short story I just wrote.
An Unfortunate Parallel
Two decades ago, she gazes into his intense azure eyes, and he into hers. They embrace in a moment she wants to last forever, trapped in his strong, radiant warmth.
Two years from now, she stares blankly out the window into the hazy morning sky. The window is fogged with the cold air of a place she still refuses to call home.
Two months ago, she glances about nervously while a man digs into a heavy black case and removes it to present it to her. It gleams with the harsh incandescent light of the room. She quickly places an envelope of cash on the counter and snatches it up.
Two months from now, she surveys her small apartment, finally settled and furnished. She turns the thermostat up and absent-mindedly settles into a cushioned chair.
Two hours ago, she paces madly through the house. He's late. Again. She returns to the bedroom, into the hidden drawer, and checks to see if it's still there.
Two hours from now, she carries a small, dark blue suitcase to the front door. Her taxi is arriving as she steps out the door.
Two days ago, she examines her handiwork in the mirror. Several layers of makeup render the dark, purple hue nearly invisible.
Two minutes from now, she wipes the tears from her eyes and drops a few sets of clothes into a suitcase. She packs it under the clothes, at the bottom of the bag. It seems to weight the case down with two thousand pounds.
Two decades from now, she removes it from its hiding place. It's a cool, unsympathetic weight in her hands. The metal feels a few degrees colder than even the damnably frigid air.
Two seconds from now, she stands over him as he clutches his chest. Tears stream from her face, a torrent of emotion she can't dam up.
Two minutes ago, he screams violently, and bursts through the bedroom door. He slams the bottle into the doorframe, shards of glass exploding to form a cruel, familiar sight. When he sees it in her hands, he looses a yet wilder roar.
Two seconds ago, she pulls the trigger.
Two decades from now, she pulls it again.
drew a pug during an episode of QI
Detlef can draw whatever she wants ok
she is a strong white(?) woman(?) who don't need no man
so annoyed. think i left my tablet at uni so i'll have to trek there tomorrow to find it. problem is it's the same model as the ones the uni uses so it's probably been stored away with all the rest of them. hopefully they'll be cool and trust me and let me take one. i think i'll actually be able to pick mine out of the bunch just because it'll be more worn than the rest
oh man that sounds like a tough situation
I once left my ti-89 titanium calculator at work (when I worked at office max, behind the copy center counter) and someone put it in the broken stock/returns bin, which got trucked off to wherever returns go when they die.
I had my math finals like in two days and the only thing anyone could say was "whoops well don't leave things out next time". What makes you think a clearly big expensive calculator that was sitting on my shelf under the damn counter was a return, especially without a receipt, packaging, or return slip, or the fact I didn't put it in the return bin or leave it next to the register or asdfafsda
