I've got a 3.0Ghz Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM and a GTS 250. Runs like a charm with antialiasing on low, textures on high and everything else on normal (I also force FXAA though Nvidia drivers).

Actually it also turns your head. If you want to get a shot of your own face or something it's not going to happen with ALT.

Forcing video settings through Catalyst Control Center gave me 40fps increase, and now I can run the game on full res instead of an atrocious 1366x760. (with 3d res at half that!)

If you have another unit in your squad, press numpad del to go into command mode, this lets you rotate and zoom the camera in and out freely around your unit without your head turning.

I downloaded AO, and it's giving me billions of errors with the pbo files.
I'm verifying game cache over and over but it always fucks up with something
Any better way to fix it?

had like a thousand of those before, they went away with verifying cache
same thing happened to arma but it was just /addons/characters2.pbo

isnt AO supposed to be standalone

verified again and now ArmA 2 is redownloading 417MB...

OA is standalone, but you might be running Combined ops which also loads ArmA 2 content, could explain the errors. Try something like this:

Verify ArmA 2, run it once
Verify OA, run it once.
Run Combined ops

set your video memory to default. Default auto selects the memory size IIRC, and the others restrict it (or use too much)

Graphics > Advanced is as far as you're going to get. One tip though is that make sure you've defragmented the harddrive it's on, if it's really fragmented it'll fuck your performance pretty bad.
