What is it?
The Nintendo 3DS is Nintendo's latest addition to portable gaming. With the ability to produce stereoscopic 3D effects, this new handheld brings a new twist to gaming, creating eye catching 3D graphics, along with a grand library of games to choose from.
The Games
Well, you can view a full game list here, But the following should be the games that attract your attention.

Super Mario 3D Land (90 on Meta critic)
Kid Icarus : Uprising (83 on Meta critic)
Mario Kart 7 (85 on Meta critic)
Paper Mario : Sticker Star (78 on Meta Critic)
Mario Tennis Open (70 on Meta Critic)
Zelda : Ocarina of Time 3D (94 on Meta critic)
Third party titles:
Kingdom Hearts : Dream Drop Distance (76 on Meta critic, but I think it deserves a lot better than that)
Super Street Fighter IV (85 on Meta critic)
Resident Evil Revelations (82 on Meta critic)
Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D (78 on Meta critic, best played with Circle Pad Pro)
Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask (83 on Meta critic)
All DS games are playable on the 3DS as well. So make sure to take a gander at what are considered to be the best DS games. Remember to hold select when selecting to play a DS game to play at a good resolution.

I got the London 2012 Mario/Sonic demo. It was alright. I wasn't impressed by the 3D with it.

Damnit Nintendo. I don't want to buy anything on the eShop because I've been spoiled by Valve/App stores. But there are a lot of games I want to buy on there too.

I just beat SM3DL and Special-Crown.
I know how to punish my kids in the future. I send them to the hell that is special crown.

Why is Super Mario 3D Land and Star Fox 64 3D not mentioned in the OP?
Anyways I'm gonna buy Revelaitons when it comes out now that is $40.

Is special crown a single level or a whole set? I would go and unlock it but I cba to grind through half the levels again as the opposite character

All levels have to be completed by both characters and all stars and all gold flags on each map.
Its a single level but it combines every concept from every level basically.

It's a single level, basically the ultimate test of your platforming skills. It seems to be a recurring theme to have in 3D Mario games recently.
Also, I'm pretty sure if you got all coins and gold flags as Mario, all you have to do is run through and beat each level as Luigi.

Yeah, I've got all the coins and the majority of the flags, I think it's stupid that you have to beat the levels with both characters. Fair enough if they had different physics or something, but it's literally just doing each level twice for the sake of it. Grr, artificial game lengthening

Going to an anime convention friday-sunday, yeah I know anime is pretty shit now a days, but the thought of all dem streetpass updates makes me moist.

I haven't received a single streetpass since I got my 3DS :saddowns:
I just ordered that new 3DS case on Club Nintendo. Holding 18 different games is convenient for me considering I always mix my games around in my cases. I really like the covers that come with it, too. The Zelda one looks awesome.

Europe is already getting Monster Hunter Tri in Fall, so...
Also, I'm pretty sure Miyamoto said if there was going to be a remake after the new original 3D zelda game, it would be A Link to the Past over Majora's Mask, with MM being a definite possibility still.

Just so people don't go too crazy, not many of the "upcoming announced games" were mentioned as anything more than "yeah we would like to do that some time." A lot of the games on the list still don't even have a release date and may not even come out this year. I love the 3DS but it's going to be a while until it ramps up a decent lineup of games.

I'm really excited for the Persona title that's coming, I wonder if it will be another revamped port of the first game.

As far as everyone should be concerned there are no plans to bring the new Fire Emblem to the States / outside Japan

I got that Art Academy from Club Nintendo today. It's actually pretty good for the 150 coins. It really does behave a lot like pencil/paint. Get it if you like sketching shit.

Then I remembered I spent it on 3DS games. And now there are gonna be more games to spend my money on.
