It's hard to be Atheist in D&D when the Gods are real enough to fuck you up majorly.
It's hard to be Atheist in D&D when the Gods are real enough to fuck you up majorly.
Funfact, in the Forgotten Realm's campaign setting, if you don't have a patron deity, then instead of going to an afterlife, the gods essentially bind your soul to a wall for all eternity, which your soul will eventually be absorbed into, and which even a ressurection spell cannot get you back from unless the gods want you to, for no real reason other than fucking you over for not worshipping them.
But it is still true that they are not all knowing or all powerfull, and they are most definately not a force of good.
That's what I mean, you just have to obey one god, not every whim they come out with, and a lot of them are at odds with each other, they work more like the ancient Greek gods than most modern theologies.
Huh, how much objective difference is there? Not trying to stat an edition war it's just that all I know of D&D is from Counter Monkey, /tg/ stories, and the 4e Player's Handbook.
Basic melee combat is pretty much the same, there's no powers in 3.5e, magic is completely different, slight differences in how to-hit and saving throws are worked out.
There's way too many differences to get into really.
Edited:
Yes, that is true, i was making an argument against there not being the whole "do what i say or suffer forever" thing, because there is
4e, well shit.
Errr... You can hybrid right?
Hybrid the Sorcerer with the Ranger.
Edited:
Oi.
Fuck. Never playing someone who doesn't worship a god again.
I might just switch to 3.5e since that's what the current campaign is using.

Mr. Elowin, could I possibly cast a few peepers on next session?
Forgotten Realms borrows Greyhawk's deities yeah?
Next time I run a game I'm going to pull that atheist wall of souls shit on the players.
Make sure to punish them if they make a Wailing Wall joke.
I'm planning on doing a steam punk themed game, are there any existing rule sets for the theme?
I'm sure this is old as shit, but I really enjoyed penny arcade's pathfinder arc.
I kind of quit PA, but they have some really good strips every now and again.
I'm not all that familiar with Greyhawk but I believe the deities are mostly different with only a few of the same/similar ones if I recall correctly.
I must be Jigsaw because I wanna play a game.
Discussion on /tg/ and some looking into the rules on my own have really made me interested in seeing if it's possible to make an Eversor Assassin in the 2e-4e (including Pathfinder) range.
2e would be hard as fuck.
Also it comes down to your attribute rolls/how many points you can buy with.
I'm pretty sure you could do it in 3.5, not sure about 4.
You'd need so many splatts though, so you can get your sneak attack damage against everything.
Gotta wait until saturday, same time.
Also whoever wasn't here last week is out of the campaign.
If you really want to, although i think my game may be one of the worst around, you could probably find a better one to watch.
The only other place I know where to find a game is Spoony's forum. As long as you're playing by the rules and not making some monstrousity out of the game, it should serfice.
My friend has me playing in the Pathfinder Society now and so far it's pretty good for two adventures, besides my friend being killed by a dwarf atom smasher bridge trap. As a fighter the heroic things I did include killing a rat that bit me, a snake, pushing a druid out of a tree to their death, killing another druid, and chopping in half an invisible fairy.
Reading the rules for sex in D&D, it's hilarious how awkwardly they tiptop around the fact that people actually interested in adding sex to D&D are more-than-likely massive perverts. Kind of makes me wonder if anyone has made a vampire character that poses as "rape bait" and then slowly turns their captors into vampires under their control.
But I STILL need to finish reading that damn Player's Handbook. Is there anywhere I can fill in a 3.5e Character Sheet online? I've only got a PDF without fillable boxes.
Just ended a session with my weekly tues/thurs group. Fighting some cyclopses i a tower we own, we're in the middle of smacking up the chief and a minion comes down with a cyclops baby in its arms. I use the baby as leverage to intimidate the chief, and he rebuffs me. So we kill the baby. and it immediately resurrects.
Turns out the baby was our Eladrin swordmage, who (unbeknownst to us) is a changeling masquerading as an Eladrin. The whole resurrection was him critting his death throw as soon as he went down.
Go to www.myth-weavers.com and register. After that, you can write up almost any character sheet your heart desires (and you can make it public for others, like DMs, to see).
I think WoD might suit that a bit better, and from here on in--it's best to stop wondering.
If you go looking for the weird part of the hobby you will find it.
I was looking for just an interactive template or PDF I could download, I don't to have to register with anything.
Edited:
I'm not THAT interested in a sexual RPG. Even if I could overcome the awkwardness, I would see little point since I don't think people... ahem, "enjoying themselves" would be permitted.
Besides, I've still not found a group to play with so it's not really a hobby as of yet.
The one time I've played Pathfinder was at a convention. I assumed I'd never touch that character sheet again, so I made my character as suicidal as possible.
What resulted was my Monk performing ridiculous feats like leap-frogging charging Dire Boars, crushing a hobgoblin's face with the front gate of a wooden fort and punching through an enemy's armor. As hard as I tried, my character just would not die.
Good times. I actually took that sheet home.
Welp, im about to reinstall NWN 2 because i just realized i never actually beat it or any of the expansions.
Jekko: ill take my cross bow and shoot the leader

Damn people and their gaming groups, where can I find me one of them gaming group things?
What's your Steam ID? Join the FP DnD Funhouse.
The DnD community here doesn't seem to be all that thriving.
It's somewhat thriving. Though, as you should expect, finding a game is hard because most of them are already in progress. To be honest, there are probably some lurkers here so you could try and start one of your own (DMing really isn't that hard, don't worry).
I lurked, said "Hey who wants to join a group"
Three weeks later I have a group going.
That was a very interesting cliffhanger for today's session.
http://pastebin.com/mVPe9RYX
Indeed it was.
I wouldn't like especially for my first time.
It's not like you need much knowledge to start your own group. Hit up a spot, like this thread, say "Who wants to play X edition?" and ka-bang. Either way, it can't be too hard to find a group with some persistent effort.
I'd be up for playing if there's a new group starting. I've only played a little of 4e though![]()
I played a single campaign which kinda died after like three sessions before I tried DMing. As long as you have an alright understanding of the rules you'll do fine at it.
I prefer being in the action rather than "above" it.
