An invoker who only utilizes Quas and Wex is useless, he has 5 other spells he can use. Someone that only burns mana and disables is barely anything. You can use 9 spells within 55 seconds.
And it depends on how you level, if you level Quas over Wex, you have a really weak mana burn. Wex over Quas, you have a mana burn that is easily dodgeable due to the short tornado disable. People need to utilize different spells of him more.

DoTA, DoTA 2, LoL heroes look like citizens compared to HoN heroes. Then again, HoN is a harder game. At least for me.
I recommended they put a commendation page at the end of every game along side the scoreboard. Hope they do since no one cares about commendations.. at least it'll push it out a little bit.

I'm gonna try Voker in an actual game, how exactly do you level specific abilities up?

You can't level his spells individually. You level Quas, Wex, or Exort, and when you use a spell with whatever reagent, the reagent's level affects part of the spell.
For example, with Tornado, which uses Quas and Wex. Each time you level Quas, you extend the amount of time people hit by tornado will stay up in the air, and each time you level Wex, you extend how far the tornado will travel.

he's a very versatile hero meaning that he can build any number of items and be useful
ideally i guess you should aim for a scythe of vyse and aghanims for core items
once you get those items, the rest of your build depends on the enemy team comp i suppose
boots wise, phase and treads work well choose whichever you like better although if you're going wex-quas go for phase but if not, go for treads

Haven't played him in a bit, but my build was Phase Boots, Drum of Endurance, Eul's, BKB. Last two items depended on the enemy team, never got Agh's because I only played him a few times and PROBABLY wouldn't have used it to it's potential if I had gotten it. (Mind you, I always maxed Wex first and Quas second, so depending on how you level his abilities you should adjust your build accordingly.)

In a pub, he's not useless. It's pretty much like lichs ult, my whole team will stand in the path of the tornado then get their mana drained by EMP.

I think I did okay, I had very mixed feelings. Early game I loved him, and then mid I disliked him, and then late game when my ult had 2> cd I loved the shit out of him.

Ah, now I remember my Invoker question I still can't seem to know answer for.
Why everyone builds Drums on him? To be even faster with Wex? Cause it's a nice item and only when you play Invoker you happen to notice? Because it rhymes with Property Insurance?

Honestly. Invoker and Spiritbreaker almost always get this item, compared to other heroes who get it occasionally. While Spiritbreaker is rather obvious, Invoker seems semi-strange to get this item every game.

Ohh I dunno, maybe because if you have max Wex, Phase boots, Eul's and Drums you have 522 move speed when you use your phase. Don't mind me let me just walk away from this gank.

Heroes like Chen, Beast Master, Enigma, Furion, Enchantress, Brood Mother, Venomancer, Warlock, Invoker. Those that are in Dota 2 for now and usually have other units under their control.
Veno is rather simple, you just have to place the wards in good places. Warlock's golem isn't hard either. Enigma and Furion are tricky to be efficient with, but basic usage is easy aswell. Invoker's spirits are not problem from what I've seen.
Now, Beast Master with his Bird, Boar and (usually) Necronomicon - I tend to get lost in a teamfight if I start ordering them to do something (Bird - follow runner, Boar - slow down someone, Necros - kill stuff and burn mana) and unless I have my HoT already I might die.
Brood Mother - spiders are weak on their own, but if you amass enough of them is it better to :
- Use them for surrounding enemy
- Use them to jungle a camp or two
- Use them to push a lane
- Depends, as they are good at all of these
Enchantress - apart from jungling and early ganks, should I even bother controlling creeps? I guess a Centaur in a fight is nice, but what about more than 1 creep ? Any tips here ?
Chen - thankfully, I haven't played him yet, but I guess he is tricky. Any advices if I happen to random him ?

Luck, purely. Probably half of the Steam population filled in the request for Dota 2 beta key, yet there are 20,000 or so people online at any given moment (sometimes down to 15k). This is, still, closed beta, it will open up pretty soon. At least thats what I think based on recent blog post.
And it's probably in top 10 most played because its addictive as fuck and there is only brief window when you can think "allright, enough for today" and that's between the matches. 10 second to 1 minute window vs half-full hour match.

Do you have a guide for using Invoker? Right now I'm operating off of one ability and item build, which, unfortunately, mainly utilizes Tornado and EMP. I know some of his other spells by heart, though I don't get a chance to use them, and I'd really like to be more flexible with him.
The way I tend to play I get a lot of assists but no kills, and mostly mid to late game.

me and lina roamed from the get-go, first blooded earthshaker bot lane for spectre and they had invoker & AM mid so it was solo on side lanes. just ran around ganking everyone and carries got farm and kills :)

Was standing still in lane for a change, was baiting for brood to attack me. She didn't come so I tried to move a bit, I couldn't I thought it was lag but nope; she surrounded me with invis spiderlings.
