I remember in elementary school, noone knew what creepy pasta was or that it existed.
Instead we all would buy those "Weird USA" or "Weird (STATE HERE)" books.
It was so cool reading about all these creepy places and monsters.
It was back in the day when there was no random weird stories, no Slenderman, no Rake, just cryptids and urban legends.
I remember reading about the Jersey Devil and El Chupacabra and being completely enthralled.
Then I read the Mothman story, first he was my favorite cryptid (still is), but then I found out he lives in the state next to mine and I about shit my pants in fear because I thought he was going to get me.
Then I got the "Weird Virginia" book and it scared the living shit out of me. I was convinced that Mothman, Bunnyman, the Flatwoods Monster, the Black Panther, and whatever other scary shit that lives near me is out to fucking kill this 10 year old boy who got a little too curious.

I remember reading a book, that I think was by Clive Barker, when I was in upper elementary-school.

It had several small stories in it, and one of the was about 2 villages that fought each other by forming 2 giant humanoid beings from the villagers' bodies. The writer went into great detail when describing them.

Anyone know what book it could have been? I would like to re-read it, since it's been over 10 years.

I need to read the others. I have Weird Indiana (My home state).

I like how they collect more local legends and avoid the more famous stuff, only giving it a passing mention.

I have that book too (being from indiana) me and some friends were going to go exploring some of the locations; it hasn't come about yet but hopefully this summer we make it.
