I'm looking for a wider lens for my Minolta X-700. I'm trying to keep the price under $50 with shipping and I need it before march 10th.

Would this Soligor Minolta F2.8 28mm be a good choice?

Any MD or MC minolta rokkor 28mm wideangle would be a better choice.
There are surely some 28mm 2.8's for under 50 usd.
I thought somebody on the forum also had one that he wanted to sell?

I was thinking of getting a DSLR, but I don't really give a shit about much technology and stuff like that, I'd much rather buy a great lens for a simpler body.
How is the 1000D from Canon? What would you recommend, also for a lens with great depth?

So I bought some new (old) cameras.

Fog 1514 by edwashere4, on Flickr

    Brownie Target Six-20 from '48.

Fog 1515 by edwashere4, on Flickr

    Kodak Dualflex II from '52.

Fog 1516 by edwashere4, on Flickr

    Cine-Kodak Model 20 from 1932.

Fog 1518 by edwashere4, on Flickr

And finally a Compur folding Camera.

Fog 1520 by edwashere4, on Flickr

Fog 1521 by edwashere4, on Flickr

Fog 1522 by edwashere4, on Flickr

The cool thing is, the Dualflex still had a roll of 620 film in it. 10 of the 12 exposures were taken, and when I took the film out it looked old. Kodak stopped production of it in the 90s, but the film looked way older than 20 years. It looked at least 40 years old. I hope to get it developed soon. The brownie also had some 620 in it, and the coolest thing was the 8mm film camera. It still has 25 minutes to the roll in there. I'm so excited to get it shot and developed.

    Edited:

Just took a look, it's Kodacolor-X. Introduced in 1963 and discontinued in 1974. Holy shit, this roll is at least 37 years old. It's the same roll in my Brownie and it's the one I just took out of my Dualflex. This is so awesome.

Today i got the Jim Buchanan lens mount conversion kit for my Minolta Rokkor 58mm f/1.2, so i went ahead and replaced the original mount (fully reversible though if i ever would like to use it on a Minolta body what i don't even have).
I find it really small for a f/1.2 lens, it nearly matches a 50mm 1.4 or 1.8 by size. It does weigh about half a kilo though. Quick picture of the lens on my 40D:

Gotta love f/1.2 by Leevmeister, on Flickr

Will post a better picture later on.

That lens is even better because it supports the Program function of your X700 because it has the locking tab

Well it looks like it's mint, and it's with box and lens shade, (so that adds value too) so i would reckon 60 usd maximum.

And you guys actually shoot with those old ones? I have this Kodak Brownie Fiesta that uses 125 film (which noone sells anywhere in my country) but had a roll that I want to develop when I find someone who does it.

I've used my 1910 Kodak 2A with 35mm film, the shutter works fine. Just a matter of figuring out what the hell the aperture equivalent is, everything I shot was way blown out (but that's my fault for accidentally loading 800iso film)

I've done much more shooting with my 1957 Ricoh Diacord L, which I restored myself. Takes 120

I regularly pack a bag with my D7000, my favorite Nikon FE (silver body), and the Diacord whenever I go somewhere and expect to shoot a bunch.

Other film cameras I've shot with on my shelf are my dad's old "Sears" rebranded pentax (can't recall model equivalent), and a Mamiya/Sekor 528tl. A good number of the older collected cameras still function, but I haven't had the chance/reason to load film.

I'm using my little Zeiss Nettar folder I picked up, shutter is sticky and there's crap on the lens, I just want to see how bad it is. All the rest I've done lately is on my Mamiya C330, and I should be getting a C3 tomorrow. Needs a little fixing, frame advance jams, but should be a simple fix. If not, single exposure backs here I come.

Got my C3... This thing is in amazing condition, even came with the waist finder. And there was a roll of I believe Portra 160NC in here, might get it developed...

Those of you that have gone about restoring your old cameras yourself, did you try and get a service manual, or did you just go at it?
