sorry you're on a version that has no public untether jb. in other words you need to wait for it to come out as a tethered jb isn't worth it imo

Can't I downgrade or something to one with an untethered?

    Edited:

Now that I think about it though, I never turn my phone off. Ever. So maybe being tethered isn't that bad.

is this legit? that I should just buy the 32gb version and wait for that or buy the 64gb version and not bother.

That honestly looks like such an inconvenient thing to carry around. I certainly wouldn't want it like that in my pocket, and constantly plugging it in and out would get annoying.

Guys, any idea why my wifi is suddenly slower than edge?
I just installed winterboard and rebooted, and ever since then it has been thi s slow. I already uninstalled winterboard but it didn't help. I also tried resetting the network settings but that didn't help either.

I update my jailbroken ipod touch on 5.0.1 to 5.1 (untethered) and i have to say that all of my problems i had are gone. Games like Infinity Blade run butter smooth, no more Springboard freeze right after unlocking and best of all, the battery life is normal again.

If you can afford having an untethered jailbreak, or a semi-tethered one (cydia) definitely upgrade to 5.1

Whoops, I cocked up. Long story shory short my phone is now on 5.1 and I wanna downgrade to 5.0.1...Is it just a case of loading up iFaith and using that? Should also mention that I can't unlock the phone, I got it given to me but no sim card I have ever tried works in it so it won't unlock, I need it Jailbroken to actually use it.

    Edited:

...And I haven't backed up any of the SHSH blobs.

    Edited:

ANNNNNNNNND nevermind, apparently you can downgrade to 4.1 but not any of the other iOS versiosn for some strange reason

    Edited:

I should really do a bit more research before posting in here next time.

Download iDetector and see if your 3GS is an "Old Bootrom" version or new one. Old 3GS's can be untethered on 5.1, whereas the newer 3GS's have the same restrictions as an iPhone 4 does (Untethered 5.0.1 or tethered 5.1)

I have a problem if anyone knows the solution, i jailbroke my iPhone 3G last night, and downloaded Blackra1n as i got told that would unlock the phone from o2 to any network so once i downloaded it the phone froze, so after 10 minutes i reset it and now i get a constant apple logo boot, the apple logo appears 5 mins later the screen flashes and it appears again, any solutions?

    Edited:

Also i've tried booting just tethered right now, which takes me to the pineapple logo and after that goes away i'm back to the apple logo.

I DO NOT want to restore my phone if necessary because i don't want to lose all my songs etc. I have no backup.

disconnect it form power source and try pressing lock + home button until screen turns black, its called a hard reset. then try powering it on. if it can't power on, connect it to a computer to see if it is in recovery mode or not. if still does not work, let the battery run flat then try charging it and see what happens.

    unlucky :(

you might need to restore, see how it goes. if the problem is solved and you still have your songs i will tell you how to extract them out of the phone to make a backup.

I've tried hard reset and when i turned it on it went back to the continuous apple logo loop, i've also tried restoring in iTunes and it won't let me, my last resort is too let it run down.

right, im having problems jailbraking my iphone 3gs runing ios 5.1. i origionaly jailbroke it using that jailbrakeme website when i had ios 3 something, when that messed up i ended up getting 5.0.1 i tried using redsn0w, but it kept on saying about an error with the shsh blobs (not sure if it was because i wasnt running as an admin). being an idiot i upgraded it to 5.1 i tried to jailbrake it using redsn0w but it says there is an error with the shsh blobs, same as last time. i tried to downgrade it using ifaith then tiny umbrella to get the shsh (baring in mind it was 4 in the morning and i was tired as fuck) i didnt know what i was doing and gave up. Could someone please help me, i tried to find a download of the shsh blobs from previous versions but to no avail, so i have no idea what im doing.
i hope its as simple as "oh, you pressed x instead of y" or "i had that problem to, just load x then use y to enable z"

I have a jailbroken iPod touch, 4th generation and it is running quite badly, with around 50 MB of ram on the Springboard with no background apps.
It takes ages to open app folders, and some of the more demanding apps crash often. I have to reboot in safe mode to use them.

My current packages (excluding the default set) are at http://pastebin.com/E6G8ZYUH

Is there anything I can do to optimise how my system is performing without uninstalling/removing anything? Or is it because I'm running too much stuff?

you have a shitload of customization / theming. i suggest uninstalling animate ( seriously how often do you reboot ) , barrel, dreamboard. your stuff in winterboard aren't actually themes, more like a little skinning for the wifi icon etc. the rest are tweaks which are alright.

by then you should have at least 150mb ram? try going to sbsetting's processes, then press free memory.

Uninstalled Animate and barrel, still getting around 75 MB of free RAM.
I don't use Dreamboard often, is it always running in the background and slowing down my system?
I also tried uninstalling SBSettings, and performance increased. Does SBSettings use that much power?
Found something called Supercharged, is it really as effective as it says?

eh i think you should keep sbsettings, its really one of the top tweaks. not sure about dreamboard as i never installed it.

also it seems peculiar that you are only getting 75mb free ram. have you tried freeing memory? might wanna reinstall sbsettings, then go so sbsettings then press processes then press free memory. it is strange as your current setup should get you around 200mb ram.
