Oh yeah, I got you once
Although I complained once, and it was after the guy who started using the combo kept lolling and bragging about it.

Oh no. The most recent patch made it so most of the power nodes are socket-able, but not build-able. Somehow, though, even with multiple onoses inside our base, we managed to push a victory. We could only have our one extractor, but the advanced guns we had kept changing hands so there was always a flamethrower, grenade launcher, and shotgun defending against the siege.
Yeah, from what I've seen they break when the round changes. The first round it's fine, but then on the second one some of them can't be built by anyone but MACs.
I think all of the power nodes that were destroyed in the last round can't be built anymore by the marines in the next one until the map actually reloads. Hopefully most of the server hosts make the maps only last one round until it's fixed.
The most recent update fixed the power nodes apparently.
Now they need to fix zombie harvesters. they are so annoying.
I hate people who blame the commander for every little reason why they lost. The commander is a HUGE factor in any game, but when they start being like "We should have had lv 3 upgrades 2 minutes ago you shitty noob com" it makes me rage so hard. They can't even shoot aliens and they give me shit for pulling my hair out.
That team was awful, they weren't even listening to what you were telling them to do. "Go Ore Transfer" everyone runs to Logistics. DERP.
It annoys me that people allways blame the comm when the team themselves don't listen.
What servers do you guys play on?
I do my best to report whatever happens on the map as much as possible, as well as doing whatever the com ask me to. However, I have to train my aim as a marine, it sucks so much. Is there any other crosshair? The default one is kind of in the way whenever I try shooting at something.
I usually just wait around in the gather these days waiting for games.

But that's natural selection 1, correct?
NS1 Gather & NS2 Gather at the top there :)
damn, sorry
I'll be making an account there.
Should I join if I live in America(Canada?) Because if there is European servers, I won't be able to play at all due to lag![]()
There are US/EU/AU servers. Either way, the game will always be playable for you... worst case scenario, you will just be at a ping disadvantage. But that will work both ways.
Help me

I find the Inversion servers to be the best. They never have hardware problems like other servers
Is there any way to force a round to start? I really want to play around with this game by my self, but I can't activate the command post without another player..
Apparently welders are going to be in the next build.
This is going to be one of the first games I spend money on in a long time..
How do you balance the game if you didn't put in all the major gameplay content in yet?
It's pretty balanced, they're adding stuff to both sides with each update.
I'd buy this but Pay Pal has been giving me the run around for the last few months. It's funny how I have to verify my account with a paper letter in the mail, couldn't even make a new account. Can't make any purchases at all.
However, as soon as paypal knocks it off I'm going to get it.
Progress for my map has been going swimmingly. Also, if anyone else is interested, Psykoman has made some picture tutorials for curved surfaces and hallways.

Because of this, I've been able to make superb progress on my spherical rooms, which would have taken an eternity with my other more manual way.
When my map is in a more playable state, I'll have to arrange a play test with a decent amount of people in order to get a good idea on map spacing and rudimentary geometry. I'll see about posting a link here as well as the NS2 forums. I'll probably have to include some pictures to spark interest, so stay tuned.
Form what I can tell that editor is inspired by Hammer. How easy would it be for someone used to Hammer to learn that?
From what I've tried myself, with NO mapping experience, is that its really easy to make a basic, simple map, and sort of tricky to make something "omg awesome" with all the curves and complex geometry.
Looks like something I'd want to do but I simply don't have the time.
It's like Hammer meets 3DSMax, but made easy so you can just click and drag stuff where necessary.
Really intuitive and non-restrictive.
That map you're making is looking pretty sweet, are you going to add lights later on? A map that dark will give the aliens a huge advantage.
I've been doing some general passes in particular rooms, some more than others. While I have done some lighting here and there for things I consider more permanent, I am considering changing around the scaffolding before working on lighting, then I want to add sort of a rib cage to the outer containment room and try to get that lit up.
I am considering going in to that reactor room and changing the containment walls on that to use a different texture, because the one that is there just can't be seen through the glass properly.
For those interested, I have put up a thread on the official forums documenting my progress on the map. I also have a download link for those who want to give it a try. The thread also has screenshots that I didn't put up here.

The map is still very much in progress, and a lot of the rooms are still unfinished, but it is playable.
Sounds awesome. I wonder how much it'll cost though.
So is anyone else but me still playing this? There have been a lot of big changes, they've pretty much reworked the alien commander completely and shitloads of smaller balance changes have been made. The latest addition is clogs for gorges, they are basically goo balls that you can use to build walls with that you can take cover behind or block some certain passages for example.
I expect to see a lot of these the next couple days though:

That is awesome. though i am not gonna play until they fix the FPS

Competitive play on stream, also developers in the chat.
Official map, "Docking" reveal trailer
(it is extremely fun to play btw)
Now in game and playable in the current build 210.
Oh, and marines can now weld doors and Onos can smash them down.
Also, dreamhack
Wasn't there a massive technical problem where there was no video for his first presentation? Pretty sure that's why he is getting another presentation 10h later.
Haven't kept up with NS2 for a while, but seeing that reveal trailer for Docking is going to put me back in.
Completely unique to the other maps we've had and it'll be a refreshing change from tram and Mineshaft.
Is it just me or the game runs much worse after latest updated?
If my ping is more than 100, I can barely aim
It could be the map itself isn't fully optimized maybe?
I really hate how the team wants to push for a Summer release with the current state of the game.
Really... at this point it's like an early beta at best.
There's only a handful of maps, still have loads of balance and optimization issues, a lot of features remain unfinished / still need adjusting, and the animations on the characters are not looking too great unfortunately... (Some of the animations need serious work)
I am really loving the new map though.
