Differences Between Demon's Souls and Dark Souls

    - The world is truly open-world this time around, instead of having five separate worlds like in Demon's Souls You could go back to the first region after getting to the end boss if you wanted to.
    - World/character tendency has been replaced by 'humanity'. It's effects are unknown so far, but it sounds awesome.
    - THE GAME IS ACTUALLY GOING TO BE HARDER THAN DEMONS SOULS. The devs cut down the ability to cheese enemies. No more running away from the enemy so you can backstab him once he turns his back on you. They'll follow you around the level, climbing walls and stuff.
    - The Nexus has been replaced by a so-called 'beacon fire'. Nothing is known about this except for the fact that you will regain health there and be able to access some of the multiplayer feature
    - Art design is supposed to be even crazier
    - Obvious stuff like better graphics, multi-plat etc

    Classes

Warrior - "Fearless" warrior / Weapons expert / High strength, dexterity
Knight - "Low-ranking" Knight / High HP, heavy armor / Sturdy
Wanderer - "Aimless" wanderer / Wields scimitar / High dexterity
Thief - "Guilt-ridden" Thief / High critical hits / Master key"
Bandit - "Savage" bandit / High strength / Wields heavy battle axe
Hunter - "Bow-wielding" hunter / Average close range / Magic vulnerable
Sorcerer - "Sorcerer of Vinheim" / Dragon school / Casts soul sorceries
Pyromancer - "Great Swamp" pyromancer / Casts fire / Wields hand axe
Cleric - "Cleric" on pilgrimage / Wields a mace / Casts healing miracles
Deprived - "Unclothed" enigma / Armed with club / Plank shield

There are also Gifts you can choose from in the beginning:

Blessing of the Goddess - Consumable item that fully restores HP and clears negative effects.
Black Firebomb - Thrown item that creates a powerful blaze. Start with 10.
Telescope - Used to see distant objects, threats, scenery and enemies. Considered a "key item" and can be used more than once.

Can anyone explain me what the function/meaning is of invading a world and the benefits of being human again?

I played the game a lot so far but never figured out much about the multiplayer aspect. Just as a human you can summon some other players.

    Here's the jist of humanity:

-While human, you can see other players summoning signs on the ground, allowing you to summon them for help on a boss you're having trouble with, or an area you can't quite get past.
You can also summon NPC's before a boss battle when you're human, if you've met them, talked to them, and meet all the prerequisites to allow you to summon them (I've only been able to summon 2 NPC's but I'm sure there are more)

-The more humanity you have, the greater your item discovery rate up to a cap. It also increases some of your resistance up to a cap, and scales with some weapons (I think Chaos weapons are effected by the amount of humanity you have)

-When you're human, you are vulnerable to invasion by anyone at ANY TIME. This is really the only con of reversing your hollowed state and being human.

-Humanity can heal you a great deal if you're in a pinch.

Yeah. If you're human and get invaded, it means another player (usually - sometimes it's a dark spirit NPC) has come into your game. The "area" you're in will get fog-walled off so you can't just run and hide somewhere to avoid the fight.

Luckily, that has never happened before.

I played like 50 hours so far. Yesterday I summoned 2 other players against a boss just to look how it is. The boss was fucking easy and we raided everything. Afterwards I got like 14000 souls. Pretty worth it

Humanity helps with item finding to the maxinum of 10 humanity. It helps with damage and resistance to the maxinum of 30 humanity. I read this off the wiki yesterday, because I'm about to create my first chaos-weapon to try out.

Okay so I beat the game for the first time. The ending was completely anticlimactic and underwhelming, but I don't even care because the entire game was totally worth it.

NG+ Time! Is it possible to just...   kill Lautrec right off the bat so you don't need to bother with him later?

I have a question about the story.

So what actually is the world that the players explore? What does it mean to be hollow? What are those npcs and the covenants?

I kind of played the game a lot without really thinking about that. Anyone who could enlighten me?

    The world is Lordran.
Being hollow is being not human
Covenants are large groups lead by a main figurehead with followers that give special perks like items if you offer them what they ask for.

There is really alot of theories of how the story is.
Heres a brief bit of information.

Supposedly the main story goes like this *from my idea*
A group of people or undeads rose up to overthrow the dragons and to be rulers of the realm,
Gwyn aloud seathe to live to give him access to all the knowledge in the libraries to cure his scaleless body, He's only favour was to betrayed his own kind.
The chaos witchs were given one flame to conjure firestorms to burn the dragons, Thus giving them powers of the lord.
Nito was first of the undead so i guess he had privileges :D (don't really know about nito)
All was good...until the flame started to die out, By that time Seathe has been driven mad by all the knowledge and the witchs flame was dying out so they tried to make duplicates of the flame
    (because they were greedy).

It didn't work so well and it turned themselves into beasts.
All was going to hell, So Gywn took some of his followers or Silver knights to rekindle the flame to continue on the age of the lords.
Gwyn was consumed by the flame and burnt his followers turning them into Charcoal Black Knights.
Before Gwyn left he made several covenants to keep progress and to halt anyone in fulfilling the prophecy, So they rounded up all the undead and locked them up in prison far from the land of the giants/lords.
The prophecy is to end the age of the lords and bring in the age of men, Thus ironic since the lords defeated the age of the dragons.

Age of the dragons>Age of the Lords>Age of the Man.

That's how i see things and there is still more to be discovered.

So today I finally killed the Capra Demon, summoned a phantom. Which made it a lot easier. So then I got the key to enter the Depths. Never been there and I was pretty excited.

Then I went down there, shat my pants and completely lost myself in the sewers with all those fucking creatures, I did not know where to go and I was sacred shitless. Then I all emptied all my Estus flask, suddently a dark spirit is invading my world. I killed him but it was fucking close.

Afterwards I summoned another player and we both cleared the dungeon, it was easy. Then we even killed that fucked up Gaping Dragon. Holy crap, what the christ? Those monsters are starting to look worse every time.

Well now I have like 45000 souls, what am I supposed to do now?

There's a level differential of 10%, so level one means no one will invade you, till level 10 then level 9-11 can invade and so on.

All you really have to worry about is the undead burg/parish, as people are assholes and tend to create level 1 characters with endgame gear and pound new players there. You can just stay hollow through that and avoid them entirely and after that the pvp should be relatively fair.
