Might be getting an Accord, guy was getting it track ready but something came up in his life so he had to sell it before he could autocross it. It's a sick car that can really haul, has been re-upholstered and has a JDM H22A in it, along with a ton of new parts. To be sure, brought my friend who knows alot about cars and his opinion was "Yeah, I would buy it if I were you." Hopefully my truck will sell.

It'll be my first Honda. :3

Their older scooters however are tanks. I own an Aero 80 and my friend owned TWO Elites.

Odd. Rear engine? Otherwise I see no reason for the vents in the rear (Unless they are foor brake cooling? If it even has a rear disc brake swap).

It does remarkably resemble the 5 Turbo.

    NSX and S2000 nuff said

....Yeah, pretty much this. I don't really care much for the rest of Honda's lineup, it's all front wheel drive economyness(And the ridgeline is just a joke of a pickup, I don't even count it). But the NSX and the S2000 are astonishing cars. Reliable as the stars themselves, a dream to drive, and the NSX will do just shy of 200MPH right off the showroom floor. Gotta love it.

Swapping a Honda OHV 8 HP engine with a snowmobile style clutch (forgot the exact name, uses a belt) onto my Go cart in place of the shitty huqshqhehshx(something funky) Chinese rip off 8HP (ha!) OHV with a shit centrifugal force clutch.

The Honda is so nice in comparison, wouldnt use anything elce. Honda is king when it comes to little engines like that (IMO).

I still want to put an overhead cam Honda motor on a kart. Crazy looking for a lawnmower engine.

Not too different from the OHV except for the big lump in the cam cover (For, well, the cam). Always thought they were cool, if they ever get cheap enough I'd pick one up for my little kart frame.

The poll is a bit biased, as there is no option against Honda's themselves.
    I strongly dislike Honda's.
Mainly because all the ones I've actually seen are FWD, and after owning an AWD car, I'd never want to go to a FWD.
I'm also not a fan of the motors.
Pretty much the only 4 and 6 cylinder engines I like are Boxer engines.

Why would he go into a Honda opnion thread and post his opinions on Honda? The OP clearly asks for opinions and when someone posts an opinion that's not in favor of, some of you get mad.

If it was a pure discussion thread then that would be an understandable response but it's not.

God, if any of my cars ever start making that kind of noise I'm going to have the engine torn down and on a stand within the day. No healthy engine is supposed to sound like that, and I don't imagine sitting there holding it against the cap is doing it any favors.

I've never owned a stick-shift before and the only cars I've driven have been a 1990 Corolla
    and a 1996 Chevy S10 (4 Cyl). I think it'll be a fun car, especially if it's running well.
Is 275xxx kilometres a lot for an H23A1?

Yeah, I love it when people think something is wrong when a car hits two-step. Haha.

Also those Honda guys who use it and launch at ~5k-6k... No need for that. 4000-4500 RPMs is a great launch speed for any car, front or rear drive. I love it when Honda guys two step at 6k and wonder why they break axles/diffs/trannies all the time. *sigh*

It will burn, leak and automagically consume oil. As much as I like the looks of the 4th gen Preludes, I have never heard or seen anything good about the H23 motors except that it's a 2.3 liter. My buddy had to replace just about every seal and gasket on the thing before he wrecked it and it had even been rebuilt apperently. All of them in my city reek of burnt oil and blow tons of blue smoke too. If the motor has been recently rebuilt, jump on it. In the picture of the image bay I see oil though.

However $1700 sounds like the perfect price, drop a H22A1 or a rebuilt H23 in it and you'll probably still be ahead. The rest of it seems to be in great condition too. Worst comes worst you'll just have to put in as much oil as I do with my leaky oil pan. I'd go for it.

I've always heard of the H23's as being the worst motor Honda has made, it might just be that I frequent more B/D based forums and have friends who have these cars though lol.

Good answer. I have heard of people dropping an H22 head onto the H23 bottom end which is nicer for the mid-range power but you'd have to upgrade the gaskets to cope with the higher compression, especially on an older motor.

In regards to that Lude I would avoid it. Save the money and buy a VTEC if you're after a Prelude, you'd be missing the point if you bought one without as they are a great drive. Try to find one with lower miles too as there are a lot of bushes on the rear axel which will be pretty worn on a high-miler like that.

Runs but makes an air type noise? Kind of sounds like it just doesn't have anything over the throttlebody.

Decent cars, shit motors. Good deal though.

    Also that's a 1987 Prelude. Not a 1988.

I like it. Yes, the 5th Gen Preludes are prettier but they are exorbitantly priced (For $3500, you can get one with no engine! Too bad, that's the limit of my budget atm).

And I'm not really a fan of the Older Preludes. They are cool, but I don't think I'd want one. Not to mention the only one that's been taken care of here is even more expensive than the 4th Gens.

My friend has a pretty good idea of what I like, and he said I'd enjoy a Prelude, and I think I agree. They look cool, are reasonably reliable, can get going pretty decently, and drive easily (According to my friend).
It'll also be my first manual car so I'm not looking for something perfect. I'm looking for something I can enjoy driving and learn stick on. I might save up for getting something else in the summer.

1st-3rd gen Preludes are the best looking three, IMO, but they had the worst drivetrains. The fourth gen is when they decided "Let's make it ugly as fuck but put our best engines in them!"

Fifth gen is alright... But I wouldn't own one. If I bought a Prelude I'd get a 3rd gen as a DD. If I was going to buy a Honda because I wanted to do some bolt ons and have a fast car -- I'd go with a B-series Civic, Integra, or the likes. Cheaper, easier to work with, doesn't look like it got hit by a truck from the factory.

Mileage doesn't just wear the bushings, time does quite a bit too.

Intake probably fell off or there's a huge vacuum leak, if the car feels in good mechanical condition as far as the motor and transmission you could probably flip it for $1500.

"white in color has title and one more place for a reassignment for a dealer ( car was never signed over from previous owner)" Sounds pretty bad, have the holder take it to DMV with you and make sure it signs over.

If you're not really afraid of it and you're pretty good with cars and could if it(you wouldn't be asking.......), you could probably get a running car. However judging by that you have to ask I'll advise you not to as it will probably be more trouble for you than it's worth.

I personally like all the generations of Preludes, the 3rd's have a late 80's/early 90's sexiness about them though.
