3rd gen is pure wedge sex, they're great.

If they had real B series in them instead of the B20A/B21A, they'd be my favorite honda of all time.

Yeah, I love it when people think something is wrong when a car hits two-step. Haha.

It still sounds awful. I know there's nothing actually wrong and that it's supposed to do that, but it still sounds like it's coming apart bolt by bolt, and I just couldn't live with that in any of my own. I can't stand anti-lag systems for the same reason.

Also those Honda guys who use it and launch at ~5k-6k... No need for that. 4000-4500 RPMs is a great launch speed for any car, front or rear drive.
I beg to differ. launching any of the vehicles on my property at 4,000RPM is a good way to throw a rod, nevermind break the drivetrain.

Every engine is unique, and some launch best at 1600RPM. Ideal launch point, IMO, is peak torque, wherever that happens to be. If it's at 1600, launch at 1600, if it's at 4250, launch at 4250, etc etc.

I love it when Honda guys two step at 6k and wonder why they break axles/diffs/trannies all the time. *sigh*

That's because the people that usually buy and use modules like that don't have a clue what they're doing. Good drivers don't need a two-step to launch at a given RPM, they have the foot control to hold the engine at that point manually.

I like it. Yes, the 5th Gen Preludes are prettier but they are exorbitantly priced (For $3500, you can get one with no engine! Too bad, that's the limit of my budget atm).

And I'm not really a fan of the Older Preludes. They are cool, but I don't think I'd want one. Not to mention the only one that's been taken care of here is even more expensive than the 4th Gens.

My friend has a pretty good idea of what I like, and he said I'd enjoy a Prelude, and I think I agree. They look cool, are reasonably reliable, can get going pretty decently, and drive easily (According to my friend).
It'll also be my first manual car so I'm not looking for something perfect. I'm looking for something I can enjoy driving and learn stick on. I might save up for getting something else in the summer.
if you have time, keep looking. I spent around 8 months searching for a car that would be perfect for me and i even looked at a few. I bought my 95 civic si for 3k and it only had 125k miles on it, bone stock. just keep looking and more things will pop up.

Would it be easy to do a B16A or a B18A swap on one of these? I would figure they have cable trannies so something cable based would be easier. I have a B16A sitting in a DA and a B16A 3rd gen Prelude sounds like an amazing project as they are dirt cheap around here.

With a welder and torch, along with a BFH, anything is possible. CUstom mounts and axles will be needed. If the Prelude is OBD0/OBD1 EFI then everything else should be plug and play, use a distributor to match the OBD system.

None of the cars on your property are taken to the strip and run hard every weekend either.

And if they can't handle 4,000 RPMs something is wrong. Do you have a bunch of cars sitting around with no oil in them? Only engines I know that can't handle 4k are like, old 3.5hp Briggs motors and shit.

None of them could break past the 15s, so it's probably for the best.

And if they can't handle 4,000 RPMs something is wrong.
Not really. Two of them are mid 80s Ford pickups with 4.9L inline sixes. Redline for those engines is 4100RPM, and one's got damn near 300,000 miles on it. They rarely surpass 3,000 these days, and the one with 300K is coupled with overdrive gearing that sees it barely passing 1800 unless I'm getting on the interstate. These are simply not high RPM engines, never designed to rev very high and don't need to, their lot in life is pulling shit from just off idle and they do that really well. Peak torque is at a mere 1600RPM, and 80% of that torque is available at idle. Their cranks weigh 90 pounds and are roughly three feet long, and they have seven main bearings. Don't expect S2000 rev bands.

The third is a 1996 Chrysler minivan with a 3.8L V6. This one....well, it is just a heap of shit. I barely trust it to hold together at normal rev ranges, let alone a drag launch. Also, the transmission is gone in it, so it probably wouldn't move anyway. Right now it still has first, second, third and reverse, but a hard launch would probably finish it off.

The fourth is a 1997 Ford Explorer with a 4.0L Vulcan V6, redline of 5500RPM, peak torque around 2500. Another engine that simply isn't designed to rev to the moon, and while it wouldn't throw a rod launching at 4,000, it also wouldn't be the ideal point to launch it from.

True, true. But they prove my point nicely.

On a side note, the I6s take quite nicely to turbochargers. 8:1 compression and the layout means packaging is a breeze and you need not worry about detonation. Just replace that wheezer induction system that caps them off, toss a hot cam in(Comp makes them, ranging from the 268 I'll eventually fit to a 301 all-out drag cam), add 30 pounds of boost, and you get instant wheelies. You can also fit 8.71 blowers without issue of hood clearance, although that requires custom intake manifolds and pulley brackets.

On topic of I6s a turbo slant 6 is probably the best for all the space, I mean look at this, almost nothing on the right side! 3.40 bore and 4.125 stroke seems pretty good but I don't know the specs of any other I6s.

    And this is one turbo'd

On that last one, I would have got an EFI conversion kit. I'm just not fond of turbos and carbs. Superchargers are fine if the carb is mounted on the intake of the supercharger, but otherwise, FI is preferred.

The Ford 300 has a 4" bore and 3.98" stroke. Most of the domestic I6s are also low compression and very much overbuilt, which is why they take to boost soo well. It's also why they last so long.

If I ever got a ford, I'd get one with a straight 6.

Mine's got 300,000 miles and keeps right on chuggin'. Wouldn't give it up for anything.

Congratulations guys, I joined the Honda Club. Got me a '93 Prelude SR for $1700.
Bit high mileage with 280,000kms on it (173,000 miles) but it's been pretty well maintained
and runs beautifully. Outside needs some work though. Love it to death. Gonna see if I can find
a new trunk and hood for it.

Sure, I'll head out to take pics now. It's finally not raining so I can take some, I want to wash my car
today but it's still overcast though... FFFFUUUU. Give me like 5-10 minutes and I'll edit in some pics.

    Edit:

Never used imgur before, not sure if they hate hotlinking but I'll give it a shot.

you could just get the hood and the trunk repainted, it only looks like the paint faded/ clearcoat is peeling off. but anyway, it's really nice and looks like it's been taken care of.

My friend has a gun, might give a shot at just repainting the hood and trunk myself, but worst case,
I'll spend some money to get a shop to do it. Just gotta figure out how much it would cost me.

First though, I gotta get these stickers off. Extension cord isn't long enough to get my blowdryer
to them, I guess I could just try applying some Goo Gone?

I'm gonna use some Goo Gone and a guitar pick to try and get underneath. Don't want to use anything sharp because I'm sure I'll accidentally scratch the paint, which I want to avoid if possible because
the hood and trunk are the only places not in really good condition.

oooh, nice. Stickshift, red, non-obnoxious exhaust and rims. The only thing I'd fix is the rims being multi-fit. Pattern, color and size is good, but I just don't trust rims that aren't made to fit that exact car.

That's probaly a good idea. Yeah, the exhaust is nice, sounds good but it isn't super loud and whiny. Just washed it and peeled off half the stickers too. I'm gonna leave the ones on that are covering rust/damage until I can figure
out what to do about the damage. I thought one sticker left residue on and then realized it was actually peeling the clearcoat. FFFFUUUU- Now I have a small mark on the bottom of the driver door where the clear-coat is missing in a weird pattern.

Also washed the car though. Cloth got very dirty, which makes me happy. Rims are a lot cleaner but still have a lot of caked on dirt that I couldn't get off, they might need some heavy duty cleaning or a re-painting. I'll probaly get new rims once I have
    more money.

Basically, the line near the driver door, the S, and the big circle near the back window are now gone. Yay! I'm super happy that there was no damage beneath them (Except the end of the line one peeling off some clearcoat. FFFFUUU)

I like HXs. I have a set of VX wheels with nice tires too, when I drop it over the weekend I'm going to try the slips and the VXs to see which looks better. I'm thinking slips.

WIsh I had got one of those "anodized blue" looking sets though. I have a tow hook, billet LCAs and such in that color, I don't like mismatched shit.

I'm stuck on steels. Depending on when i go to college, and how much 'free' money i get (pel grant from the state, idk how it works. My brother got 1,000 dollars that he doesn't have to pay back), i might get new rims and tires. The responsible me want's to just use all of it on books so i have less student loans to pay off, but i will NEED new tires soon. Probably before i get any money -_-

I beg to differ. They do look like an absolute blast to just cock about in. Think about it, 900HP, 500KG or so, RWD. Can we say donuts? And as for looking the same, hardly. While they do look a bit more samey than they used to they're by no means 'clones'. They still have unique silhouettes. The 2012 cars are even more pronounced, with regard to that step most of them are running this year.

I will agree that modern F1 cars are hideous though.

Oh it does. The radiators rely on airflow from the car's motion to work, they have no fans, and as such cannot cool the engine very well at all when doing donuts. Very good way to destroy a Formula 1 engine, and that's why the donuts done at the races are just one or two loops.

The team isn't going to allow you to cock about with that race car if they're not prepared to replace that engine, gearbox and clutch, and often they'll install junk units not fit for racing specifically for it.
