I totally agree, if I remember the flashback correctly the life support machine goes off and Shane checks Rick's heartbeat before leaving the place .
Lori could have handled it better but Shane should have controlled his feelings better and got over it instead of becoming a psycho and ultimately securing his own fate .

I don't understand why everyone having the virus is such a big deal. It doesn't seem to make that much of a difference.

If your grandpa dies because he's old, he becomes a zombie.
If someone dies in a car accident, he becomes a zombie.
If someone dies from AIDS or whatever else, he becomes a zombie.
if you don't see how that's a big deal, you may need to think a little bit more

I hate to break it to you, but in the event billions of people die(for any reason), the world WILL NEVER go back to normal.
And that goes double if the cause of the deaths is zombies.

It's not a mutual understanding on telling a different story, its a lack of being able to tell a story correctly. The writers have no understanding on how to properly convey characters or create tension or emotions without resorting to a redshirt getting bitten, people arguing or trying to act all 2deep4u with dumb morality stuff that goes nowhere (see Dale.)
Now the sad thing is that this show (similar to something like how Dexter is now) has no reason at all that it can't be told well, there's small glimpses of it improving but its not really enough. They spend too much time in places that don't give good opportunities to convey good drama and they don't create problems for the viewer to actually care about.
No one wants to watch a bunch of people on a farm for half a season because most of drama then comes from the characters rather than the environment which is bad because the characters in this show are really really awful, even someone like Daryl (sp?). They're not compelling or interesting or deep. They're just.. there and generic. The half-a-zombie from the pilot has more emotion and depth than most of the characters.
It doesn't help that all the characters are seemingly retarded, which stems from the writers not being able to come up with circumstances to create drama intelligently so they just make someone choose to do something retarded to get them into trouble, e.g. Carl being super-duper explorer boy or Lori somehow crashing on an empty road because she's looking at a map at night time.

While I like the show still, I can absolutely agree with all of this when I consider it. I hadn't really thought of it in-depth until I started realizing how many people really don't like the show, but now that I've begun to see what all of the people who dislike have to say about it I can really see where they're coming from. I suppose I'm on the fence about it, then.

Question, if someone was to dress as Vader or a storm trooper would the walkers attack them? Technically they don't look "lively" and their entire body is covered by a costume so they can't be seen. Top it off with a necklace of walker ears and they also have the scent of a walker. So would they be able to walk amongst a horde safely?

Yeh, I'm not saying it's not enjoyable, it is. It's just.. not a smart show or anything like that when it could be.

That's a tough question to answer because we have seen on the show that you can camo yourself using zombie guts to hide the human smell. And if you act like a zombie, they can't recognize you as human by sight.
But then the show totally forgot about that tactic and no one has used it since, so I don't know if it still 'counts'.
If it does then I think a sealed outfit like you describe should work fine, especially if you smeared some zombie guts on the outside. You wouldn't want to smear it on the inside for obvious reasons, unless you get off on that kind of thing, which is possible I guess(I won't be judgmental).

Not really. The original question was about using a suit of armor(Star Wars or otherwise) to allow you to walk amongst zombies safely because they won't pay attention to you.
This is very different because merely hiding protects you, sure, but it does not allow you to DO anything. If you can freely roam around in the middle of a herd of zombies imagine what you could accomplish. You could gather supplies that other survivors have to pass on because it's not safe for them. You could make your base camp in the middle of a zombie area and basically use them as a barrier to protect you from other potentially violent groups of survivors.

First 3 episodes, Carl's had his operation and I literally just found out that Shane managed to escape by shooting Otis and leaving him to die .

And makes everyone immune to bites ... so right, other than being a minor inconvenience when dealing with corpses, what's the problem again ?
That's really well put, sums up all of my problems with this show aswell, especially on those last episodes.

Ok, picture this.
A man has a heart attack, alone at home. A couple of friends were coming for a visit. They see his body lying on the floor, and break into the house to help him, but get bitten in the process. That's already 3 zombies
What I mean is that pretty much every death would become 2; you'd see people getting attacked because they didn't know if a man was a zombie or just sick, and you'd see random killings because someone thought another person was one, when he actually wasn't. Cancer patients would come back to life and infect their doctor/nurse. Firefighters would get bitten while trying to save people.
Not to mention, they take some time to become walkers. Just imagine a war, not everyone who dies in one gets shot in the head. Even if everyone knew about the disease already, the soldiers wouldn't have time to burn every body/wouldn't have ammo to shoot everyone again. You'd see random walkers, wandering into nearby villages, infecting and eating everyone.
Everything that involved death would become a disaster, and everything that risked your life would be an even bigger threat, and not only to you.

Which is a matter of numbers and adaptation, the zombies might get everyone by surprise first, but the whole thing could be put back into control again.
Then don't wage a fucking war in the face of an obvious crisis ?
Problem is, you're assuming everyone would be stupid like in the show, which isn't the fucking case, obviously, otherwise the human race would't have survived it's early years.

i'm too lazy to read the last few pages, what are you going on about? if people knew about zombies, they would obviously learn eventually to do headshots. and military would adapt it as default shooting style or something (see season 1, episode 6).

what I'm trying to say isn't that it's never going to be controlled, just that it's never going to be normal again. sure, everything would be relatively safe, but much worse than it is now.
