I really enjoyed it; I played the original mod when it first came out and playing this is almost nostalgic. I recommend getting it as soon as you can/when it goes on sale.
Despite that, I think the $10 was too pricey. Maybe $5 is worth it, but ten is a little much.
I would totally buy it if it was 5 bucks.
Honestly the developer spent alot of time on this. I think it's deserving of $10
I think I saw the ghost too, when I was climbing up a hill it stared down on me from above. Pretty eerie, but a nice touch.
this game sent shivers down my spine when i saw the ghostly figure
Edited:
i kinda dont mind that its 8€ because if you compare it to other "art games" like the path and graveyard it's really really good
you get what you expect
Played it, can't piece it all together but I noticed when I 'died' by jumping down that bottomless pit early on, the sound that played was a heart beat/Blood Rushing to Head sound, and clearly a car's blinker clicking
There's a place with a few car tires in with the rocks, as well as car parts of all sorts all over the place. I'm thinking the guy's brakes failed and his car flew off a cliff into the ocean but that's just me, whoever the guy is
I also recall the narrator mentioning something about the diagrams in the waiting room at a hospital representing the chemical reactions that were breaking Esther down, presumably as she was dying. This would explain the drawings of neurons that can be found along with the circuit diagrams, as Esther was losing her brain function.
How the fuck did he get the skybox to blend with the water so nicely?![]()
Insta-buy
Source may be outdated, but this still shows that there's still a bit more to be squeezed out of it.
That ending monologue son.
Dear Esther.
I have burnt my belongings, my books, this death certificate. Mine will
be written all across this island. Who was Jacobson, who remembers him? Donnelly
has written of him, but who was Donnelly, who remembers him? I have painted,
carved, hewn, scored into this space all that I could draw from him. There will be
another to these shores to remember me. I will rise from the ocean like an island
without bottom, come together like a stone, become an aerial, a beacon that they will
not forget you. We have always been drawn here: one day the gulls will return and
nest in our bones and our history. I will look to my left and see Esther Donnelly, flying
beside me. I will look to my right and see Paul Jacobson, flying beside me. They will
leave white lines carved into the air to reach the mainland, where help will be sent..
My ascent is predetermined and forever begun.
Wow, it seems quite scary... Can't wait to buy it when I get paid on friday.
You know that's not actually in the game right?
Still looks kinda scary though, but I figured that by the massive half-life references.
Yeah that video of the secret is fake - the real thing isn't scary: but it is quite eerie and very atmospheric.
That bottomless pit was so much fun to jump into. Was surprised by that "COME BACK" though.
I just read pretty much every spoiler tag in this thread like an idiot, Is the game still worth anything after that?
Yes.
Valve has a habit of doing that, don't they?![]()
Considering you need to play it a couple of times for the story to really sink in, and the story text relates directly to things you see in-game (though as metaphors I think), yes
I had played Battlefield and I thought the level design had gotten worse for each game that came out, so I was thinking;
'Wow, Dice should hire this guy'
Turns out the guy is ex-Dice.
This is not looking anything like Portal 2 to be honest, I know it's a completely different setting, but I don't understand how people are impressed by the looks of the game.
It's not necessarily the graphics, but rather the design.
The level design is the best I've ever seen. Thus it is very impressive.
fucking beautiful game

Absolutely stunning, I'm glad I didn't choose to miss this. This is quite possibly the most beautiful in-game experience I've ever had.
the number 21 comes up frequently in this game i don't know if thats relevant to anything
What impresses me most about this game is the sheer amount of detail. It makes the environment very realistic.
Someone should noclip to the ghosts.
ugh, The majority of the reason I bought this was to improve my understanding and ability to map well in hammer, but for some reason I can't decompile the BSPs.
if someone knows how/where to get the VMFs, would be much appreciated.
i found the sprite texture for the ghost (atleast i know its the one used on the last level because i noclipped up to it)
but i also found anotherone possibly unused creepy as hell
Edited:
also the writings on the last level seems to be biblical quotes according to google
Fuck
Mom look what i made

"GameDev" ruins it
does this game have any decent gameplay at all
not talking about story or scares
