    GET THE GAMEMODE HERE:





    Ideas by trotskygrad and me. (but mostly by trotskygrad)

    Hey there! Since I'm bad at creating intros for threads, I'll just write how different it is from TTT:

    TL;DR: TTT but much more focused on espionage and is not a massacre simulator.

    Long version:

    The first thing you'll notice is that the gamemode is not a town murder simulator.
    Out of all players 3 are chosen, 2 of which are Agent A and Agent B, and the 3rd person is the VIP.
    Everyone else will get their role set to Civilian, who are sworn to protect the VIP.

    Agents have to kill each other AND the VIP to win the round, while the VIP has to either kill the agents or wait for the round to end.
    Each player is able to examine players, which, if he succeeds, will notify the player that the examined person is trusted/suspicious/dangerous.
    Agents are great at examining players and have a boost in examining people, everyone else do not have this boost, but can buy a "manual" from the
    buy menu and get the boost.

    How it works: Every weapon you carry and body armor you have equipped increases your "weight" value and when it exceeds a certain number, then upon examination
    the player will be notified that you might have something concealed.

    Agents are also much more experienced with firearms than the VIP and the Civilians are. (less recoil, less spread, planned - slower reloads for Civilians/VIP)

    Upon round start, the VIP gets a VIP ID card, which he can show to people to ensure them that he is the VIP and have them as his bodyguards.
    Agents can buy forged VIP ID cards, which they can use the same way the VIP does, but to cause confusion and to make people believe that he is
    the VIP.
    However, the forgery can be noticed by an opposing Agent and the VIP, which will automatically mark the impostor as an Agent on their
    side.


    There's also a bunch more shit that's different from TTT and it would take me a wall of text to write all the differences and shit like that.

    Features:
    - Random player selection for Agents/VIPs (essential for a gamemode like this)
    - Round system (same as above)
    - Various ways of tricking people as an Agent
    - Money system (nothing special, really)
    - Agents can pick-pocket people to find clues
    - Buyable hints for Agents (a la Hitman: Blood Money)
    - Uses my "Customizable Weaponry" (without the attachments part) for the firearms
    - 3 armor vest types that protect only the torso of a player
    - Karma system (similar to TTT, I think?)
    - Dead body examination (similar to TTT)
    - Round system
    - Map voting system
    - Pain sounds
    - Limited, slow health regen
    - Mail system for supported maps
    - Stamina system
    - Drowning (that's right, players can drown!)
    - Low ledge-grabbing system to help overcome low obstacles (such as walls)
    - Players can unload weapons that are lying on the floor
    - Tips when dead
    - Ability to break glass without having to use a weapon
    - Push around props and play spooky sounds as a spectator to keep yourself entertained
    - Buyable radios which allow for long-range communication and the use of a voice chat menu

    Controls:
    Context menu key - draw/holster weapon
    Spawn menu key - examine/pick-pocket player
    Use key + spawn menu key - show VIP ID card (if you're the VIP or have a forged VIP ID card)
    Use key + secondary attack key - attach silencer (if possible)
    F1 (gm_showhelp) - open buy menu
    F2 (gm_showteam) - open help menu

    The HUD is minimalistic - it's compact and provides all the information you need.

    You shouldn't use the type of buy/selection menus you used in your past gamemode's. It starts to get old and ugly. If you wanna display stats about the weapons and equips make them appear when you hover over or click it.

    You shouldn't use the type of buy/selection menus you used in your past gamemode's. It starts to get old and ugly. If you wanna display stats about the weapons and equips make them appear when you hover over or click it.
    I don't see what's wrong if they're just there and don't appear when you hover over them.

    I can offer being a host of it. Got a dedi in the DC not doing anything atm. Plenty powerful enough for high slot servers. UK DC.

    It's running CentOS but handles anything pretty damn well, had it running Elevator: Source not so long ago took it down due to no usage.

    so we're considering replacing the buymenus with a mail system, for realism (so guns don't just spawn on your person) and for gameplay reasons.

    We would like to know your opinions on this.

    agree, to a limited degree, it's not ugly, but a more minimalist selection with all guns displayed in a smaller space (with just their names) would be nice for quicker functionality.

    Yeah, I much like this gamemode as well. I think I could ask the Owner of Starless (Where I put the Deception Post: http://starless.dk/forum/viewtopic.p...p=18445#p18445 for anyone who wants to read it ^^) will make a Deception Server soon, possibly when the first version is released. I'm getting excited for the release though . Hope to see you later LEETNOOB ^^

    perhaps change the "who is not the VIP" book to "who is a civilian book" and up the price a bit, $75 for 1 and $100 for 2.

    Also consider revealing the identity of dead bodies.

    That would make it even worse. "Oh look, I'm an agent and those 2 guys are not marked as Civilians, I will kill them."

    Edit: I've also made reveal a player's role upon examination (Civvie/Agent/VIP) and added slow health regen that regenerates only 80% of lost health and is pretty slow.

    also, if a agent has a "fake VIP ID" then it says he's a VIP, right?

    and the drama comes in when there's 2 VIPs

    Yeah, however if he shows his fake VIP ID to a player and that player was shown a real VIP ID by the VIP/fake VIP ID by another agent, then they both get marked as "Impostor (?)"

    nice, hopefully this will spark more interest

    is this update distributed?

    Also, might want to change the maplist of the official servers to supported maps



    Also yeah, that contrast should change.

    I suggest a manila(the color folders are IRL)/blue color scheme for the mod in general, as opposed to the green glass scheme you used for greenshift.

    This has been in the gamemode before I even started handing it out to 24/7 server hosts...

    as for the update, it didn't seem to be working in the Canadian server, when I examined someone it didn't show up for more than anything else.

    I'm thinking about adding in a "Garrote" weapon, which would allow a player to strangle a player from behind. There's already a knife, which instantly kills a player from behind, but I'll add pain sounds and make it so players that are backstabbed let out a loud scream, while using a garrote would have you to keep on strangling the target for 5 secs, but the only sounds a player would make are quiet suffocating sounds. How about that?

There's already a knife, which instantly kills a player from behind, but I'll add pain sounds and make it so players that are backstabbed let out a loud scream, while using a garrote would have you to keep on strangling the target for 5 secs, but the only sounds a player would make are quiet suffocating sounds. How about that?
    The concept is pretty interesting. Seems pretty balanced, but why not make a "cooldown" where the player is slower as he as exerted his energy subduing the victim? (Making a positive and a negative)

    this, a full stamina system would be nice.

    as in sprinting, jumping takes stamina, stamina is limited by what role you are

    Also, maybe add some persistent system with very small benefits (for having excellent karma, you get guns with full ammo from mailboxes, etc).

    Looks good to me. This could be great for Agents to use as well, also you have had a very great idea there ^^

    Yeah, I thought about that. Basiclly like a Stamina System like the one that was used on City RPG, I think I asked LEETNOOB about adding in a Stamina System but I'm not sure if he will add it in or if the Sprint Key will be used for something different.

    As suggested, I've added a stamina system. There are no stamina bars or stamina text, it's indication is purely based on sound and visuals. Whenever it's below 50%, you'll start hearing heartbeat sounds (the lower the stamina - the faster the heartbeat). The edges of your vision will also become much more black the lower your stamina is.

    I've also added a low ledge grabbing system, which lets overcome low walls.

    Actions such as sprinting, jumping, pulling self up after grabbing a ledge decrease your stamina. Stamina regenerates twice as fast as it drains when compared to sprinting.

    Players that carry guns/armor vests will lose stamina faster than those who don't. So, if you want to chase somebody, make sure you don't have that much shit on you.
