For a while the stream was just showing somebody fucking about with his iTunes.
Now he is selecting colours in photoshop trying to look busy.

I shit you not he is looking at his iTunes again.
The Wolfire streams are a lot better than the Mojang one. Wolfire is actually getting shit done.

That was quite possibly the creepiest face I have ever seen. Along with the lime green sweater it was a pretty scary experience.

Also, Wolfire is testing the train cannons and drawing a logo it seems.

It still wouldn't have been purely a WW2 Dating Sim. Mojang and Wolfire took the highest and lowest from each vote, Oxeye took the second highest and second lowest.

Yep. What do you people think the word deserve means?

It means earn. So if you can't pay for it, you don't deserve it. Now, if you are asking for charity, that's a different thing altogether, but no, you didn't earn it.

I'm watching Wolfire work in Unity and I am actually amazed at the simplicity of the code so far (I've been using Unity for a while, so I can follow along and understand the API). I always thought that most games had really complex code that I would never understand (I only just now understand what lerp and slerps do to), but his is just (at the moment), if statements, and assignments (I know Unity does simplify a lot of things for developers, since it has an entire physics engine built in that you access via the API).

What's wrong with it? Derek Yu made Spelunky and Desktop Dungeons in Game Maker. The latest version can export to HTML5. Why does the IDE automatically make an outcome good or bad. Wolfire are using Unity. I assume they are both using a visual IDE so they don't have to spend hours writing a basic graphic/physic engine and can instead do what they said - make a game from scratch in 60 hours.

Just be thankful they aren't actually using Scratch, or God forbid, Alice.

That game has no relation to an RTS. So far it's just a birds eye shooter. No steampunk. And egypt is only seen through the tileset which needs a lot more work.

I hope Mojang doesn't flop this one. I was super excited for an RTS Shooter, like Empires Mod for Half Life 2. That game was great fun!

For game development? Absolutely. I'm not familiar with UDK so I can't really share the similarities/differences. In terms of what is available right now for complete game engine packages, Unity is one of the best. It's also free. The downside of the free version is that you don't get real time shadows and you can't render to texture (meaning you can't do nice looking water reflections, amongst other things). However, for learners, the free version is excellent.

I'm working on a small Sci Fi Dungeon Crawl. I've got the movement engine down, working on inventory and stuff, but also learning 3ds max so I can create assets. I don't plan on selling it, so if I ever finish it and release it, it'll be free. But more likely, I'll get a prototype together and convince someone else to make art assets for me.

edit: I said above that Derek Yu made Desktop Dungeons in Game Maker. He remade the latest version in Unity.

You are expecting way too much for a game made in a weekend with little to no planning. It doesn't even matter if the games are that good in the end, it's for charity, no one is expecting anything revolutionairy.
