Realm of the Mad God is a massively co-op action RPG that drops you into the thick of the fight in a world overwhelmed by monsters. Death is permanent.
You will die, there's no question about this. In fact, you will die a lot. Luckily, death is rewarded (as long as you've reached a high point, such as killing some strong creature). You can even unlock more classes as you play and die.

Death.

You just start as a wizard because it's the only class an account starts with.

It's pretty fun to just run around a find a large group of guys going nuts. We turn into a swarm of bees that obliterate everything within seconds.

Just about died at level 15. Was running south to kill a ghost king, swarmed by dragons and trolls, which went down easy enough, but these black raider things afterwards made me use up all five of my health potions.

So the goal is to try to live as long as possible, right? Since everything you get disappears after you die.

You might be able to keep some stuff, I think. There's a vault in the nexus, but I haven't looked up if you keep the items or not when they're stored there.

The only thing you can buy is different looks for your character and temporary buffs.

You can also buy dungeon keys, but the dungeons have a chance of opening on related creature death anyway.

I play this every once and a while when I'm bored. I was hoping the steam version would be a bit better though. Full screen is horribly stretched and input seems much more laggy when in full screen, even when there isn't other people or monsters near me. I can't bind anything to other mouse buttons like right mouse button or middle mouse button. The cursor could really use a nice big custom cursor that stands out against all the colors, sometimes I lose my cursor in big chaotic battles and I have to just assume I'm aiming properly.

You're instantly in a party with anyone nearby.
As for finding people, I've no idea.

You can purchase extra character slots with like 500 gold right now (500 gold = $5).

When you're right next to your friends, at the bottom right, there's a list. Click their name -> Press "Lock". It'll lock their name to that list so you can teleport to them whenever.

I saw that, I was just hoping for something a little, you know, not annoying. Like highlighting my friends' names, or giving directional markers...?

Also is there any other way to get gold?

For some reason, I keep on getting insane amounts of lag on both US East and US East 2. It's like I'm really in the NFL with how I'm practically on ice whenever I try to walk.
Hopefully it's just because of the mass amounts of people right now because of the Steam release. Iff it's not though, then that sucks because US East is the best choice for me.

At least you're half way to unlocking the necromancer class.

Hit level 5 as a Priest, will try to get to 20 but this is kind of annoying to play as. Hard to find a group and stick with them.

The thing that ultimately puts me off of ROTMG each time I play it is that the game seems structured in a way that I never get any drops for my class. I remember rolling a wizard: Bow, sword, sword, sword, bow, bow, bow, bow. Then roll archer: No bows, just a lot of swords. Etc.

It's great teleporting to a huge group of people and everyone is just yelling at each other which way to go.

that's probably one of the best things indeed. The sheer chaos of new guys dieng right away, or getting level 5 within 10 seconds.

Enter one of the gates and ask if there's a train going on.
If so, join.
If not, head back to the Nexus and try another one.

I got to level 17 then everyone I was with either lagged out or teleported and I got bum rushed by everything.
