It's the little things that make the difference.
Like day 1 DLC that should be in the game already
this isn't really news
It's sorta tangential but I really miss game manuals, like really big ones that had all the weapons and characters and descriptions and stuff.
That was the only joy I had when I still bought physical copies. Unpacking it, smelling it (oh man, love that new game smell) and then started reading the manual.
I used to read through every manual whenever I got a game, whether through buying or renting. I always liked those small stories/summaries at the beginning that tell you a short backstory of what's been happening in the game universe.
I think my favorite one was for the original Guild Wars. It had like an 100 page manual. Good times.
I could read the manuals while in the backseat, simply dying to get home and play.
Ohhh, nostalgia.
i would read the manuals while taking a shit
Grow up
Sex isn't the only reason people play Mass Effect.
EDIT:
Hafring, porn exists for a reason.
I still miss my old Halo 2 Copy, shit was fun of information
I would read the manuals in bed before I went to sleep![]()
Fallout 3 had a pretty sweet manual. Every Zelda game I've owned, too.
I remember reading the entire World of Warcraft manual during multiple toilet sits. Ah the 'ol days, they just don't make toilet-time reading material like they used to.
I used to always go into town, buy a new game to play and sit reading the manual on the bus journey back home. I miss those days.
MGS:HD is the last game I've bought that had a decent thick manual.
The last good manual I had was Guild Wars
Freelancer had an awesome manual.
I got the X3 superbox recently for the sake of seeing what the hype was. OH BOY did it have a manual/encyclopedia thing.
It's hilarious how in the video in the article, the guy unboxing the game covers the code for multiplayer, yet he lays it on the table, and in full HD, you can see the code clearly.
The video in the article showing the unboxing of a ME copy, you can see the CD Key for about 1 second. I bet someone will clearify the video and steal the key.
I've always found game wikia's to be interesting for stuff like that with the backstory, weapon/item details, easter eggs, etc.
Fem Shep <3
I have the version of AoE2 that came with both expansions and the AoE2 strategy guide, still have that around here somewhere
Ah yes, the car journey home with my brand new game where i'd get myself hyped by reading the manual thoroughly and just looking at that wonderful game I had to look forward to installing.
Manuals used to be shithot.
"So yeah, there is an online pass, we're making day 1 DLC and it will be Origin only on PC. But HEY ! REVERSIBLE COVER !"
It's a good idea nonetheless but I feel like they should maybe fix all the other problems with their games along with adding cool stuff to the game's package.
I remember getting a game a few months ago that was literally just a folded sheet of paper, nothing else. Some games don't even have manuals anymore.
I wonder if Bioware/EA only did this to get everyone's money, because I remember Bioware saying it was only going to be for the N7 edition.
last decent manual I had was Command and Conquer 3. now there is either nothing at all, or just little pamphlets saying the controls/advertising other games by that developer
I remember being surprised when Battlefield 3 didn't come with a manual on any platform.
Colour manuals are the best.
Save the Earth!
Or do a valve, who needs manuals, single slice of paper.
(That actually kinda disappointed me back in 05 when I opened up my physical copy of HL2).
I remember that I bought my HL2 copy in CDs, Jesus it was huge, 5 CDs.
I'm curious as to how many people bitch about Day 1 DLC without realizing WHY it is Day 1 DLC.
To make money than needed ?
I mean seriously. DAY ONE DLC. It's stuff that was made for the game, then scrapped away for the sole purpose of selling it for more money or to force you to pay full price.
No, it is content developed in the stage of development when the game is getting approved for production. They might think AW FUCK THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THERE THAT'S AWESOME and they make it. However, you cannot modify something that is going through approval nor modify it after approval without going through the process again, so they include it as DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT that comes with the game. Day 1 DLC generally comes with the game anyways so stop fucking bitching and buy the game new, not used.
They can't really only do it for the N7 version as it doesn't even have a slip, it's a steelcase.
