    But also good. Unlike iwrestledabearonce.
iwabo is good, it's just that they don't like to deviate from their style, which is weird when you think about how they put random genres into songs all the time. all of their songs basically sound the same, except a few songs that stand out like Karate Nipples on the new album:
it makes no sense when people say they're untalented just because they like to make overly fast and spastic music, because they are definitely not.
they pull it off well every time they use a different genre in a song, and the less spastic parts are also very good.
so basically, they would be able to make pretty much any kind of music well, but they just choose to make music like this as it's their style.

I personally think the vocals are among the worst I've ever heard, and that really puts me off.

I don't like iwabo purely because they put so much stuff into their songs. I can't keep up.

I just hate that screechy type of vocals. There's no diction whatsoever and the tone is exactly the same the whole way through.

I also agree with Eluveitie, they overload their songs with stuff to the point of it having no structure.

Hey so you guys seem pretty knowledgeable in prog metal and stuff can you give me a recommendation?? I kind of like Dream Theatre's heavy stuff like "Nightmare to Remember", that sort of thing but I was looking for something strictly instrumental. I don't really like the singing parts so if I could find a band that plays that sorta style of music but without some shiety vocalist clogging everything up that would be pretty neat!

You could try Liquid Tension Experiment.
They're not as heavy as Dream Theater's new stuff, but it's a side project by Portnoy, Petrucci and Rudess.

Mehh most of those bands weren't really my cup of tea, never been a fan of the growly vocals and stuff like that they've always kinda bored me and cloudkicker kind of sounded like someone just making stuff up as he goes along without any really thought of it.

Animals as Leaders was pretty interesting though! Gonna check them out a bit further.

I'm sorry I enjoy music that's a little bit beyond "oh hey lets tune our guitars down two steps and then play in pentatonic minor and harmonic minor that's never been done. Yay and we can slap some horrible vocals over top too to get some main stream appeal"

But you know, simple brains like simple music I guess?

If beauty is a value as important as truth, and the level of good / bad music is based on that, then there IS such a thing as bad music, which can be objectively measured.

You're like the twenty billionth person to say durrhurr music subjective without thinking about anything.

People can like whatever music they like: likes and dislikes are subjective, but there is music theory, and there is a reason why we have that.

At no point does Concealing Fate use pentatonic minor or harmonic minor scales in the same way most metal bands do. It also uses very complex polyrhythmic stuff (which is very very easy to pick up on if you know anyting)
Ironic that you say simple brains like simple music when you don't understand any of the point of the band or the genre as a whole.
