Rich text update looks pretty cool :D
    Shh, thats a secwet :D

So basically this is a media player (that actually uses WMP, so it's more like a skin) that looks like Steam and has some plugins and achievements?
STEAMp3 is alot more than just a media player, and has more playback functions than WMP (4 play-modes, SHOUTcast radio support, and more).
WMP skins do not add functionaliy to WMP, they only change the appearence.
You can create/edit your own skins easily and share them with others using the Skin Designer included with STEAMp3.
The SDK allows advanced users to expand on STEAMp3 by creating custom plug-ins.

WMP is still shit for what it is though. Last I checked it recommends ripping CD's to MP3 128 and only lets you go up to MP3 192. In fact, there is no reason for it not to either, as MP3 320 is still incredibly small, especially with 1TB HDD's.

Moral of the story: Use EAC for ripping to FLAC, still have lots of HDD space left AND far better sounding music. Also WMP is shit.
I understand how people feel about M$ products, and I know there is better software out there. The main issue with using another audio library is they require extra decoder .dll's to support formats like .flac and .m4a. WMP supports all formats natively using codecs.

I want Steamp3 to remain a standalone app, so it can be run from anywhere on your pc without an installation.
I can switch to another audio library fairly easily, but the extra .dll's would have to be included in the setup.

There are 3 other libraries I'm considering using:
    DirectSound
    FMod
    Bass.NET

Just use Foobar. It's lightweight and has everything you should need for a project like this. WMP has far too much stuff that you'll never use such a video codecs ect.

There's no reason for it to play video when you have programs like VLC and whatever else there is.

Follow the steps below to play .flac and .ogg files in STEAMp3 and Windows Media Player:

    1. Download and install the DirectShow filters available here:
    http://xiph.org/dshow/

    2. Change your music filter in STEAMp3 using the "filter" command (Ex: filter .mp3;.m4a;.ogg;.flac), and allow the playlist to refresh.

Ah, there seems to be a bug when using ctrl+v to paste into textboxes. For a temporary fix use the context menu instead (right-click > paste). I will fix it asap.

I'm going to use a new version of UltraID3Lib in the next update, with .m4a support and faster read/write speeds.

I registered just to say that I wholly support this. Especially the promise about a Voice plugin, so I do not have to deal with the earlier described hassle. What I want is simple, Voice chat with a friend and maybe play a song or two.
I've been ITCHING to play the Heavy Breakfast Machine to freak out my friend.

I have high hopes for you and STEAMp3

EDIT: Also will you, for the love of God, get rid of that goddamned Refresh Playlist button?
Its the second time now that I've set up my favorites list existing out of 100 songs from my library of 1200, and each and every time, it clears it out and marks about 85% of my complete library as inaccesible. It's driving me mad how I accidentally push that button because it looks like a "repeat" button.
Requires me to close and re-open the application to make it recognise ALL the songs again.

I'm on the verge of calling it a dealbreaker. Yes, just one button. Get rid of it. Pull it out with a wrench and set it on fire. Make a bonfire out of it.
    *tries to calm down*
A prompt before refreshing would be welcome as an alternative.

A minor update to STEAMp3 has been released. Version 1.0.90 includes 1 new function, SteamClient update, bug fixes and more.
Use the included Live Updater to upgrade to the latest version.

    Additions/Changes:
Added IsReady function to MediaPlayer class.
Updated SteamClient class to support the latest Steam update.
Favorites and ID3 tags are now cached/saved properly inside STEAMp3 playlists.
STEAMp3 playlists are now saved automatically when STEAMp3 unloads.
Fixed typo found in cp/controlpanel command.

    Note:
If you are experiencing errors when launching STEAMp3, the latest Steam client update should fix the issue. Please restart Steam and launch STEAMp3 again. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I must be missing something, because I can't figure out how to actually play music over voice chat through steam or in game. How does it work? I can't see it in the commands sections and I have failed to find an option for it in the program. Sorry for being ignorant, but I really am at a loss here.
