Tell me, if heroin made it harder to feel good sober, why did you take it?
Tell me, if heroin made it harder to feel good sober, why did you take it?
Because over the years I got used to it. I couldn't imagine to fap without and I never really tried.
6 days and still going strong.
1. If heroin made you feel like crap while you were on it, I damn well would ask why you take it.
2. You're comparing porn to heroine. I know people who've been addicted to heroine. Don't ever use metaphors ever again, because you're terrible at it.
Do you know that there's a diffrence between fun and addiction?
. . .Really? You're telling me that at no point in your life you've ever fapped without porn before now?
You were at no point not in a position to be watching porn while masturbating? You've always had an internet connection, privacy, a mobile device with porn on it, etc . . .? For your entire life?
Because if that's true, then I think you have much, much, much bigger issues than porn.
Of course I did fap without. But that's not what I want to tell you. I said porn bores me. Porn bores me because I watched it too much. That's why I want to quit watching it. It's not like I'm addicted to it.
The same thing with games. I don't really enjoy games anymore because they just bore me.
Oh really? So you're suffering from porn withdrawal symptoms then? Tell me, how is the horrible shivering and paralyzing anxiety? Do you feel like you're slowly dying yet because you haven't gotten a fix from brazzers?
Don't talk about fucking addiction to me. Don't you ever fucking talk about addiction to me.
Edited:
so your life is so entirely void and empty that you watch things that make it harder to masturbate just to fill the time
Please read this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pornography_addiction
Of course you can get addicted to porn. You don't die like you do it from drugs but it's not that diffrent. You say you know a lot about addiction. Then you should know that you can't just stop doing something over night. The same goes with porn.
Is it really that hard to understand that I don't do this anymore?
Oh cry me a fucking river and drown in it. People watch porn because it's fun to watch. They don't watch it because if they don't they'll collapse like a house of cards and go stark raving mad. Physical addiction is an actual measurable problem that affects a lot of people, and if you think for one moment that pathologically watching something is it's equal, then how about you go down to the local rehab clinic and pitch your spiel and see how people who actually suffer receive it.
Yet you did do it. Apparently for so long that you were unable to think of doing anything otherwise. And only now that someone has approached you with the novel idea of stopping for stopping's sake have you ceased.
And yet it's an addiction. There are people who can't even go out of the house because they need to watch their porn. I know that it's diffrent from other types of addictions.
But the way you talk makes me think that you're the one who is addicted to porn. There must be something wrong with you if you can't just let other people live their life the way they want to and let them watch what they want to.
Lol, what.
Boy, I'm sure having alot of fun looking at these random people having sex.
There's a reason that Megan Fox has a career. And it has nothing to do with her supple and bounteous emotional depth as an actress.
So you tell me this is hot?
Different in that it's not a fucking addiction. Unless they're nymphomaniacs or something and they have a physical need for constant sexual stimulation, the only thing keeping them inside is themselves. With addiction you are literally unable to stop, and if you do you will harm yourself physically and mentally. That is an addiction.
You're going to have to define addiction to porn there if you want to accuse me of having it. Because as of, oh, 4 hours ago, I'm perfectly capable of leaving my house and interacting with other human beings without thinking about or being significantly distracted by porn. I'm here because I'm trying to understand where you people are coming from, as apparently you have a completely alien mode of thought that I'm unable to grasp. So I'm trying to grasp it. And so far all I've gotten is that you like to contradict yourselves and make abominably inaccurate and insensitive comparisons.
Edited:
Nope.
Which is why they chose this angle for Transformers.
Agree with the sentiment or not, the box office doesn't lie when it comes to what people like.
Then just tell me. Tell me what you want to know. All you asked was "Why are you guys doing this?". You got my answer and you're still here complaining about how stupid we are/I am.
Also why most porn doesn't involve extreme close ups. Go figure.
Why should they?
Well, no. I pointed out an inconsistency in your logic and your story. Then another. Then another. Then another. Then I started having to explain things to you, and well, here we are with me trying to explain what sex appeal is and why people enjoy watching sex.
I believe my questions at this point are something along the lines of,
1. You don't actually follow the idea of "no porn forever", nor do you seem to care about it. Yet you still post about how you haven't watched porn. Why?
2. You've stated that you masturbated to porn even though you found it harder to masturbate with than without. Why would you ever do that? And why would you only stop when the idea is suggested to you if you could already recognize that porn made masturbation harder?
3. What is the net gain from trying to quit masturbating? What benefit is derived that outweighs the effort put in?
4. What is the difference between masturbating with porn or without porn?
5. Why bother trying to quit porn or masturbation if it's inevitable you'll either fail or express your desire for one or both through some other far more disturbing and unhealthy act?
I could think of more, but that's a decent list I believe.
6th day now, don't feel any different at all.
Meh, gonna try to do a month without porn, then I'll watch pr0n like once a week or so.
Seems like the best course of action for me.
Yes/No?
Er, they shouldn't. Because people don't watch porn for pretty faces, by and large. Because it's more about the sexual aspects of the human anatomy, if you understand my meaning.
1. Why shouldn't I post about it? There's a thread for these kind of things so I can post whatever I want.
2. I quit fapping to porn a while ago. I did it only a few times this year.
3. I don't try to quit masturbating. I just don't want to do it every day.
4. This one you have to decide for yourself.
5. I never tried to quit masturbating. I just try to quit watching porn.
I know what you want to tell me. But you also know that porn isn't like sex in real life?
I find giving up porn easy, going without fapping is so much harder
Why not try?
Mr. Scorpio: the main point of this thread is that internet porn is way different than looking trough playboy magazine.
The internet has loads of girls on ready access, you probably open a few tabs <- this is the point made in the video; the problem is not porn itself, the problem is having loads of available it in a short time.
Instead of getting an issue with like 10 girls in it or something you're getting thousands.
Not only that but if you've got a specific fetish you can access it right away, maybe even grow into the harder stuff.
I'm fairly sure, unless you're gay, that if Megan Fox was down to fuck, you would.
I think she's ugly as sin, now what?
Good god, this thread makes porn into some kind of powerful force. Whether or not you watch it, its just fucking porn. Just because you watch it doesn't mean your dick is going to fall off. Yet there are people in here who act like NOT watching it will fuck you up or that it actually matters. It is just porn, where the fuck is the arguement coming from? I think of porn as a simple unneeded entertainment not a god damn drug. Seriously who cares what people decide to do with it, both parties are right.
I survived the two day downtime of FP now.
Are you guys proud of me?
I did some "research" (if googeling "Porn Addiction" can be called research), and I think most of the pros in the OP are absolute bullshit.
And I haven't noticed any differences myself, on day 6 now.
I really start to question the meaningfulness of this.
I think the bonuses are placebo effects. You believe it's making you better so you act like a better person.
And I think it does.
I'd like to take a shot if you don't mind,
1. Because he's still taking part. If he hasn't watched porn since he signed up, he's taking part.
2. Because that's how porn addiction works.
3. The hope is that the benefits in the OP work.
4. Google 'classical conditioning'
5. That's like asking why you'd quit any unhealthy act if in the far future you'll fail. It's irrelevant to the goal you're trying to accomplish. Why would you eat a candy now if you're at risk of developing diabetes in the future? - because one candy probably isn't going to cause diabetes, and because candy tastes good.

oh look i got a title cool
So uh do you have anything to back your claims up? And I'm not talking about some "studies" on some obscure website, but peer reviewed stuff done by actual experts
The papers aren't done by yourbrainonporn, only linked to by them.
Not my point, I seriously question the credibilety of the authors of those studies
I didn't really start with the rest of you but I wasn't addicted or anything, just think I've been doing it too much. I have found that hitting the weights and exercise in general make it more bearable, I am determined to go for at least a month without it.
Hey guys, just thought I'd throw an update in on my dysfunctional cock.
This has been a good week or so for me, I've been able to get hardons and I almost had sex with my father's secretary, but I realized I was just being a horny bastard and I had a regular conversation instead.
I've made advancements to get back together with my ex-girlfriend and she is complying well. She added that she'd like to join me on a vacation to western Canada to visit the mountains and lakes. I know she would love it there, as I do. I hope to propose to her when we take part in that vacation, which I plan to book for the summer of 2013.
Wish me the best of luck, fellow fap-withstanding facepunchers.
You're joking right?
If anything the credibility of the authors is the last thing you should be worried about.
Now where the hell did you get that list from?
On their side I only found this, and most off that stuff is extremly sensationalistic and/or taken out of context.
Alright, Im just going to throw my 2 cents in here.
As far as the benefits go for quitting porn, there may very well be none at all. It could of course all be placebo. Even if it was, the effects were still there, you are still affected by placebo, therefore, quitting porn would be a good habit to pick up. It has been a week since I last watched porn, and I have only masturbated once. Since then, I have noticed significant changes in mood, behavior, confidence, control, focus, and most importantly, motivation. But why is motivation so important you ask? That is because this thread was merely a stepping stone towards betting my lifestyle. Quitting porn may not have affected my mentality as stated above, but it DID motivate me to do other things that would.
I started going to bed earlier, thus I have more energy. I started exercising more, now I feel more focused, aware, and peaceful. I started waking up each morning by drinking a glass of milk and a bottle of water, maybe even some tea. I feel no urge to eat unhealthy things, and I have been eating an apple a day since then. I am more sociable, and I have fixed my posture, I'm not lying when I say I get looks from girls at school even more now. I made it my daily goal to compliment a different girl every day. My voice grew deeper, I picked up kickboxing, I started meditating, and I can become friends with any girl and make the whole class laugh with my jokes. I never plan on watching porn ever again, and I only plan on masturbating once a week.
Mind you, this is all after one week. I can't imagine how my life will be after a year.
Quitting porn was probably one of the best things I have ever done. I do feel that is unhealthy to stop masturbating completely, but I also feel it is unhealthy to masturbate once a day. I used to do this as well, but it made me look forward to it, I would use it to cope with stress and depression. I believe someone can get addicted to masturbation in the same way they can to porn. There are sex addicts in the world, that suffer severe social problems in serious cases. So naturally there has to be masturbation addicts, and by taking away porn but saying its okay to fap away may lead someone to such an addiction. One of my best friends was addicted to masturbation, he would masturbate sometimes 18 times in one day. He then had to go to the hospital because his doctor noticed abnormal spinal growth.
As far as quitting overnight, its totally possible, and that is with every addiction. My uncle was a heavy smoker, he would smoke about 2 packs a day, a complete addict. Until one day he said to his son "You know, people back then must have been idiots, they were smoking like crazy and they didn't even know the risks." so his son says back "You want to know who's an even bigger idiot?" "Who?" "The people who continue to smoke today, knowing all of the risks." My uncle then looked at his pack of cigarettes, and threw them into the fireplace. He never smoked again.
I hope this clears up some of the confusion, and reveals the reason behind some of the claims made in the OP.
