Morrowind with a really good combat system, that is what i want.

    You mean this?
IMO Morrowind has a great combat system, but terrible combat mechanics (i.e. if they actually simulated dodging, and made it so skill progression wasn't JUST how much you actually missed, but made it so you phsyically had a harder time being accurate with aim at low skills ala Dark Souls, it would have been excellent).

Skyrim/Oblivion had pretty mediocre combat systems, and average combat mechanics. In the end, I vastly prefer Morrowind experience - even if the actual mechanics behind the combat are worse. Because the system behind it is fucking great and works well for an action-RPG. It really helped the sense of progression you had in that game, and it had a lot of depth to it. Compare that to skyrim, where everything is basically boiled down to basic "this does 2 more damage than this, and that is all". And leveling up does absolutely nothing except give you 1-2 more damage in ALL weapons every 5 or so levels. It's a terrible system, that is extremely base and has no real design effort put into it.

    Edited:

That mod looks totally disjointed and poorly made TBH, like all current "overhaul" mods. There's no real focus behind it, as can be seen with the totally random addition of a vampirism skilltree (that replaces an existing one).

was there ever a mod released that will let me run morrowind in 1080p? It would be much easier to get into if I didn't have to look at a tiny window in the middle of my screen.

I know, it seems pretty lame. I'm looking forward to your perk overhaul mod though, it looks pretty well thought out.

Your mod is going to extend to more than the combat skills I hope. Because having A section of skills all nice and cool and having all the others be vanilla would be shitty.
Perky seems to be doing kind of what you are, but much less so.

The problem with perky is that it was more or less made because the guy wanted the skill trees to look like trees. With his mod, the game would still play just like standard skyrim (including all the broken perks like the starter ones for melee skills), and none of the real issues of the Skyrim perk system and skill system are being addressed. It's a nice effort to make you invest more into a single skill, but at the end of the day with Perky most of the perks you are getting are flat stat boosts or filler, and it even causes more of an emphasis on the player totally ignoring the skill JUST so he can get perks, which is rather flawed.

In other words, there's not a whole lot of design put into the perk trees beyond trying to make them actually look like trees. Not saying his mod is bad, but it's more or less a visual adjustment more than anything. I'm looking to actually make it so the perk/skill system as a whole actually feels solid, by making perks reasonably weighty choices, and making it so skills don't rely on perks in order to be good at the base level.

Will "making perks reasonably weighty choices" involve penalties if certain conditions are met? Perky did this a lot with Heavy Armour (less stagger but more fall damage in 3 pieces of Heavy Armour for one perk) and certain other skills despite the larger trees already requiring tighter specification.

In regard to the quality of that image, try it with a little less... ruining effect. I get it, it just seems over the top.

Sometimes, but generally no. If it happens there's a general really-good benefit you get. I.E. a flat damage increase, should I ever make a perk for it, might have downsides. One of the perks in my heavy armor tree globally reduces damage by 5% (you can perk it multiple times), but increases the amount of stamina damage you take by 20% (as heavy armor now damages your stamina slightly when hit, and at low stamina you take penalty damage).

Most perks though are lateral bonuses or abilities that apply with certain types of X, certain conditions, etc. It's meant to be a way to specilize within your skill with the limited number of perk points you have in a way that is more interesting beyond basic boosts. Rather than, the fallout approach where you had traits/perks that gave you a benefit for a downside, and it wasn't tied to skills at all.

at the most get SkyUI (which requires the script extender), anything more than that before you finish the MQ and you may not appreciate the game as much as you're meant to

yeah you have to dick around for a good 50 hours before you can go all STALKER on the game's ass and mod the fuck out of it to the point where it becomes a hypothermia survival pellet arrow shooter die in one hit masochist ENB filtered buggy mess

    and you will love it.

Uh... I'll still wait for the unique beast races mod.
Interesting, but the person kinda made the feet cartoony-ish. And even at that, they're still bad meshes.

Seeing mention of digitigrade feet on the beast races makes me kinda want a mod for that.

Complete with an animation that makes them walk like they just shit themselves. I like to think Skyrim's beast races are more civilized than their morrowind counterparts anyways, as in wear shoes and stuff, just sayin'.
