Messing around in Ableton (single take)

The instrument feels too 'banjo-y'. I think if a more mellow string were used (bass, maybe simple acoustic guitar) it might sound a bit less harsh.

I'm no music expert or anything, so the above may not make all too much sense, but I do have a sense of musical quality. I like the chords, but I don't like the instrument.

Dynamics are very important, you need a more varied attack for that instrument.

It all sounds a bit random, even for improvisation.Building tension and releasing said tension is extremely important. Also I think you should chose a different instrument. something with a less distorted sound would be better, like an acoustic guitar.
