    Hello all,

I know I've been a bit stupid getting a laptop for stuff, but I'm slowly migrating to desktop use now. I find my current laptop a little underpowered for what I play and do.

The question is what suitable build would do? I've hunted everywhere and couldn't find the right match. So should I build a PC or get a prebuilt from someplace else?

    EDIT: My budget is £650.

Build it yourelf, prebuilts are not bad but you are paying extra for something you could do yourself that is not hard. Plus knowing how to build a computer is a good thing nowadays.

Also you should tell us what your budget is

The case would be too big to fit, sorry. I'll hunt around a little more for a smaller case.

Well just to say that every gaming PC needs a big oversized PC case... Which is ridiculous.

I kinda need help on this pretty badly now.

That looks like a good direction to head in. Don't think it needs that much wattage though. Could save a few bucks.

The case size is an issue here...

I know theres stuff there, but if I move them, it wouldn't change the possibility to having a decent sized case.

Well you can get a slimline pc, but those really arrent the best bang for ya buck and wouldnt allow you to have a high end gpu.

Cheaper and easier to re-arrange the room.

I found an antec 300 midi case but im going to take measurements tomorrow to see if it'll fit. If not I'll find a similar case to the newegg one.

Problem isnt the motherboard but the gpu's which are hughe.

Then again on that budget you are not gonna get a top of the line model annyway.

I don't really care about top-of-the-line crap, just need something better performing. i5 2500k 560ti, but I found a flaw in the antec case, it won't make it silent either... I'm gonna have a look at Lian Li.

560 isnt small and wont fit in most slimline cases.
The only way to get it silent is to buy a gpu with a good fan (usually xfx, or club3d) And for example not the one linked above.
    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=BG-047-EA
And a silent cpu fan. (again small due to seize issues).

If this is available elsewhere in case it's out of stock, then I'll get that GPU.

I just said that its loud and to big for a slimline case.

Get one with better fans, you can probably find a benchmark somewhere.

Agh too late I bought the GPU, but I've planned on rearranging my room, I measured the dimensions of the PC case, too big to be in the desk but it'll be fine if I plonk it to the left of my desk though. It's a zalman Z11 case.

And why did my mom and dad said I have to pay and they said it with a smile on their fucking faces?

Christ I don't have a job yet either! Not even the community board has jobs, just volunteer bullshit work.

    Lol.
Did you just buy a whole pc or just the gpu? If its just the gpu then its retarded.
If the sound really bothers you you can upgrade the fan on it.

Oh and I dont know your parrents, but I guessing its because its YOUR pc.

Searched for a job for matter of years now but no company needs someone right now.

I bought the PC case from Dabs.com, the fan from overclockers but it'll take 2 ram slots up which doesn't matter does it?

Most of everything's from amazon.co.uk. So I kinda maxed my budget out so I paid about £900 in total.

A fan taking up ram slots?

If you mean that ists big yes it does matter.
This is how Ram slots usually work. say you have 4 lines then your ram should be divided like this:
    1:2:1:2
if you put them like this 11:22 then dual channel functionalitty usually doesnt work and you will experience lower performance.

I'll keep that in mind when its time to build the computer, thanks for the advice and info!
