yeah dynamically wasn't the correct word - what I meant was that the server spawns all the buildings, tents etc. They're not pre-placed on the map.

Maybe the developers can add a Non-Pvp zone where survivors can trade their stuff and form groups without afraid of being shot
The mod looks pretty awesome to me; what are some things the developers say they are gonna add?
Does anyone know how loot spawning works? Does the server load loot entirely as soon as the server starts? (Obviously cleans up once in a while) OR does it spawn based on the location of players that way it doesn't bog down the server?
So while i was looting the control tower at the Balota Airfield I heard someone shooting at the zombies outside and how this person decided to try and run away from them. While standing in the top of the tower I heard him coming closer. Out of panic i locked the door up there, just to make sure that he would have to use the stairs in order to get to me. All of a sudden a survivor is outside the door, trying to open it. It seems he can't and starts looking at me, it's like he's begging me to open the door. I think about it for a few seconds, and in those seconds four zombies have climbed up the ladder and start walking towards him. He point's his Makarov at me and it clicks. Again and again he does this in order to show me he's out of ammo. The zombies started to get close to him and he ran around the tower. I know understood what was we trying to tell me. While fending of zombies he ran out of ammo and made a run for it to the control tower in hopes of escaping them. He saw me and hoped I was friendly and able to help him. I quickly ran over to the door and tried opening it, but the option to open it never came. In desperation I tried shooting through the windows but with little succes. They seemed bulletproof and shrugged off the slugs from my winchester. Then it looked like he just gave up, he just stood there while the zombies came closer, looking at me almost hopelessly. I watched this guy getting mauled to death and eaten by the zombies that had chasen him.
I feel like an asshole and an idiot for not reacting quick enough and help this guy.
I was hoping that eventually he would add in a "Camp" that would have no spawns, and disallow PvP. (Similar to Domination's system that prevents firing at base) This would allow players to trade loot, form groups, or recruit.
So what exactly does the entrenching tool do?
I think that would really detract from the game. Half of the tension is the awkward trades you're never sure aren't ambushes and that you never know who you can trust, that at any moment your partner could put a bullet in you and take all you worked for.

You use it with an engineers backpack to build defences.
The idea of a safe zone is pretty stupid in my opinion. The second you leave the safe zone you'll get a bullet in your head. Bandits would probably lurk around the edges of the safe zone waiting for you.
I'm hiding out in a no-door barn in the middle of nowhere surrounded by zombies and 6500 blood. Shaking like crazy, no painillers because I accidentally fell into the ocean and lost my bag. I have a nice rifle though, so I should be... "fine".

If I "abort", will I still be on my last location when I enter a server again?
Yes

Berizino is something of an undiscovered gem it seems. Every time I go there I get tonnes of great gear, more than I can ever carry on my own, and there's never anybody anywhere nearby.
Although make sure unsaved is false otherwise it sometimes counts you as loggoffsking and knocks you out on spawning.
I wonder if the DayZ dev has thought of having a Utes version of the game.
Or Takistan.
-snip-
Is this game always difficult to get into? I've been trying for about 30 minutes and the only server I've got in had an old version of the files. Then my ARMA got bored of waiting and decided to crash...
I find this the best mod that I played in ages. A week of hardcore playing has passed, even into the late nights. Many lols were made.
But after having 3 tents and 2 cars despawn due the unstable servers, I'm going to wait for the beta and more stable servers so I do not get my self burned out on this. What is persistence, if it disappears after a simple server drop?
Not That difficult. Just keep trying around and allow for a slightly higher ping than usual. The zeds are atcually controlled as animals of Your computer, and with intermittent player contact lag wont be as big a problem as in other games.
I finally buckled and bought PMC purely for the survivor textures.
I am a consumer whore.
Anyone see any servers that are available yet? They all seem to be fucking themselves as of late.
What is this about "OMG THE SERVERS ARE FULL CANT PLAY THE GAME"
It seems like three people ask this every page and I'm actually starting to get a little annoyed.
ALL THE SERVERS WILL BE FULL - Click the server you want and press ENTER over, and over and over until you join. People disconnect all the time and there is a queue of people waiting. If you refresh the server list and you see 49/50 players it's already too late because that spot is taken.
Or try joining at nighttime when most of them have tons of open spots. That's what I did last night for my first time playing the mod and I didn't have server issues. It was terrifying.

Just what I needed to round out my DayZ experience.

Not exactly what I was asking. It's when you join a server, and you only wait on "Waiting on Server Response" for a couple hours.
The problem for me is just the fucking "waiting for server response", which I'm hoping is due to lots of people clambering for the game, not my connection.
I didn't mean you in particular.
The same question has been asked a hundred times before, after two or three minutes if you don't get past server response than find a new server.
Damn, I gotta actually start shooting zombies or having feasts every now and then....... not much point in raiding towns to find ammo if I have 12 packs of Winchester ammo and 5 or 6 packs of food and water.
The group arrives at the power station.
Thought it was a nice picture (ARMA 2 has fantastic lighting!).
Database down again? Cannot connect at all.
That power station does look pretty cool. I just wish those lights casted shadows.
Fingers crossed they're adding it for ARMA 3.
Takistan/Zargabad would be great since 95% of the buildings are enterable, shame the desert environment is boring compared to the eastern europe setting in Chernarus.
Just to let any potential buyers know.
Arma 2 Combined Operations is on sale for $15 on Amazon, comes with Arma 2 and Operation Arrowhead.
Just purchased it now. Just so you know, the key does not activate on Steam.
I agree
except when searchlights go through mountains
Bought it! Can't wait to play!
Oh yes, you can. Joining a server is nigh impossible
Just had my first death :(, I'm a crap shot so I wasted all my ammo trying to shoot zombies. They chased me into a house and a closed all the door behind me and hid behind a table. The the zombies warped through the doors and got stuck behind the table with my at the other side shaking and crying.
Shame the print screen button decided just to take a shot of my desktop instead of the game.
It was like a zombie tea party.
I'm finally a bandit. Sometimes I regret killing survivors, sometimes not at all.
The first survivor I 'killed' had attracted a lot of zombies in elektro, and was still in the suburb section of the town. I shot him in his leg as he was running through a back yard and he collapsed, with even more zombies piling in to eat him up. He wasn't dead though, he got one knee and started firing winchester slug after winchester slug into the zombies. for a time, it looked like he would make it.
Then more rushed in, drawn by the gunfire and he got knocked prone, and it was over pretty quickly after that.
The next survivor I actually killed was running along the docks being chased by a small hoard. I shot him in the chest, he fell and was also eaten.
I then died after climbing down a really long ladder because zombies dont lose your sent ever.
I then set inland from the coast, working my way through a town, barely getting out of a few scrapes, and finding another relatively large wilderness town.
I sucsesfully avoid detection from all zombies and get out with a revolver, an m1911 and 2 mags for each. + an empty cv 550. I make it most of the way down the road when all of a sudden the zombies behind me in the town all take notice and begin flooding after me. I run as fast as I can and suddenly I hear a survivor voice cry out, I turn around to see the town zombies just hitting each other.
"What the shit?" I think to myself as I take a knee and zoom in for a closer look. To my utter surprise, there is a prone crawling figure amongst the assembled zombie masses being beaten on, the poor survivor struggles to his feet, gets knocked to his knee and then knocked prone again where he desperately tries to scamble forward to the other side of the street. It's no good though and he too is eaten alive by zombies.
He must have seen me coming, heard my revolver go off, because he was probably laying prone by the side of the road to begin with, maybe to even try to ambush me. Sadly, the zombies did not see it that way, and he was eaten.
Looking through his things, I found a much needed water bottle, two cans of food, and bandages, and 3 morphine shots for some reason as well as one mag for his makarov (which was the only thing he had).
As I ate his food over his corpse I silently gave him my thanks. THAT WAS SOME GOOD PASTA!
I'm bored, here's two wallpapers out of your original picture:

Not for me. I always get in with almost no delay at all.
Downloading at 150kb/s
Guess I'll be playing it when it's fully released...
Aww yeah, found a jeep.
