All three bulbs are meant to last more than 20 years, if used about three hours per day.

So they will last about 6 years under normal usage.

We have 6 of these in our house. You can put it side-by-side with a incandescent and not be able to tell the difference in light.

My physics teacher a while ago told us that we actually see better under yellow light,. The details were quite amusing but I forgot all of that
I prefer white lights though.

Apart from, as pointed out, turn my lights off, I also use a program called F.lux to warm the colours of my monitor at night. I sleep incredibly well.

Being around those lights around the house if i went into the bathroom or something before sleeping would just wake me up, i can't stand them. I use flux too, i can hardly keep standard yellow lighting on around the house other than just dim lamps and such. Nevermind one that mimics straight up daylight.

that's common sense IMHO, eyes can adjust far faster and it doesn't strain as much.

unless, as I said before, it's in the bathroom or something, where you want to REALLY see things. I need to use my phone's flashlight to see the back of my teeth.

The nice thing about LED bulbs is that they require cooling. LED's do NOT like high heat.

This means that LED bulbs usually require metal housing - which means they are built like tanks. The electronics inside can still die though.

LED bulbs come in the same variety as florescents, if you want warm get "warm" or 2700K bulbs. 2700K is the same as an incandescent.

We need new lights in our house, currently the bathroom has a dodgy, almost no luminescence, special ring shaped bulb. The bad thing is that it's useless during the day. The good part is your eyes don't explode when you need to piss in the early hours

This is because the human eyes have a limited bandwidth of frequencies they can see, this starts at red and ends with purple. Things like infra-red and ultra-violet are outside the spectrum of visual light because our eyes simply didn't evolve to be able to see it. Right in the middle of the visual spectrum (which as I said ranges from red to purple, just like the rainbow) is green and yellow.
Because of this we register yellow and green much better than say red or blue or white for that matter.
