Hello, thanks for checking out this thread! We are a relatively small, but passionate and ambitious, development team called Engine. We are looking for more people who have the same mindset as ours and have the passion to make quality video games.

    What are we working on:

We’re working on a deathmatch/arena styled game which is mainly focused on multiplayer gameplay. The game will revolve around the concept of blobs being the player’s avatar. We will be using UDK to design the game.

    Why us:

What sets us apart? Three main things.

    1. We have a relaxed, yet strict work atmosphere. We value humour and good relations between team members. However, if you are given a task, we expect you to work towards achieving it.
    2. We have experience. Many of our team members have worked for years in their respective jobs. We know what we are doing.
    3. We are committed, ambitious, and we’re looking forward to the future. Even if we encounter problems, we will overcome them and work towards being a successful team in the long term.

    We are looking for:

Concept artists (Either/both character and environmental oriented)

    Tasks:

As a character concept artist you will spend most of your time working on making 2D concepts of various characters and items For this project this mostly includes designing variations of blobs and items they wear.

If you are environmental oriented, you will be designing 3D environments that will be placed within maps. You will coordinate with the map designers to ensure smooth blending between map theme and level design.

    General requirements:
    - Experience with Adobe Photoshop or a similar program
    - Good understanding of design
    - Good understanding of colours, values and forms
    - Imaginative
    - Easy to work with

    Character oriented requirements:
    - A solid understanding of anatomy and a real interest in nature and the animal kingdom

    Environmental oriented requirements:
    - A solid understanding of perspective, light and depth
    - Ability to replicate natural geography in your art
    - Some understanding of urban design

    Web designer/Illustrator

    Tasks:
The web designer/illustrator will have two main tasks. The first is to establish, maintain, and update our site’s design. The second main task will be the designing of graphics for the company. These may include logos, t-shirts, and any other graphical requirements we may have.

    Requirements:
    - Experience with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator

3D modellers (We’re looking for both environmental oriented 3D artists and character oriented 3D artists)

    Tasks:
As a 3D modeller you will focus on 3D modelling the concepts of the concept artists, these could either be environmental or character, you will mostly work together with the concept artists and with level designers if you specialize in environmental art.

    General requirements:
    - Experience with programs such as 3D Studio Max, Maya or similar
    - Solid understanding of 3D art
    - Understanding of forms and objects
    - Able to create UV-maps, specular maps, diffuse maps and such.
    - Easy to work with

    - Ability to export models into UDK (Optional)

    Character oriented requirements:
    - Solid understanding of anatomy and topology

    Environmental oriented requirements:
    - Understanding of architecture and environments
    - Cooperation skills

    Level designers

    Tasks:
You will cooperate with the environmental concept artists to construct maps for the game to ensure the level design fits the theme. You will also coordinate with the 3D environmental artists to ensure a smooth transition between the design of the level and the 3D models.

    Requirements:
    - Experience in UDK editor and its features
    - Ability to import models
    - Understanding of map design, transitions of game modes
    - At least moderate understanding of urban design and natural geographic design

Looks like an interesting concept, sounds more innovative than a regular shooter. I am interested to see how it turns out, good luck.

Well yes we've got some cool gameplay mechanics that we're putting in, we're working on a technical demo to show to you guys (Tech demo video), it'll have basic movement and a prototype map including some of the key gameplay mechanics. Glad you liked it :)

Well yes, I can give you a little sneak peek of what kind of our key gameplay mechanics, the blob, the player will be able to absorb objects scattered throughout the map and is able to launch them at opponents, he'll also be able to fling himself to inflict damage or just to simply get around, I'll be updating the thread soon with some map layout and more concept art this week, we got a new level designer today which has plenty of experience with UDK and has worked with a studio which has released a game already (It's called Insecticide), he and our 3D environmental modeller will construct a map which I'll then post a demo of including some basic gameplay mechanics.

Edit: Not to forget, we're using a 3rd person camera view.
