    I tried this out and had a great time playing with it, definitely worthwhile. Along with that after a bit of tweaking I'm sure it wouldn't be difficult to get it working serverside (rather correctly sending to clients so they have all get the files and experience the same effects generally).

    I thought it was a simple concept, but after looking at the code I've found you did this very well, dynamic and organized. You definitely deserve a lua king for this.

    This almost can't get any better. Except for a few things:

    First, most of the gibs don't dissapear for me. I don't know if this is intentional. Either way, it can make things really laggy. It would be better if the gibs faded away.

    The gibs can also get a bit laggy when a lot of them spawn at once. I would suggest fewer gibs, but maybe make them bigger.

    I want to be able to gib headcrabs!

    Also, it would be pretty cool of the ragdolls could spawn with limbs and things already broken off. Like if I shoot kleiner in the arm with my magnum, I want to see him fall down with and arm already missing.

    Also also, it would make sense if all welds and other constraints were removed from a limb when it's blown off.

    And like Dylan said, a console command or a checkbox to toggle it on/off would be nice. Otherwise I would keep this.

    Finally, it looks like Magnusson can't be gibbed.

    Other than that, :krad: mod.

    EDIT:

    Gibs with a certain model doesn't dissapear for some reason:raise: The effect chooses a random model from a table, so I see no reason why it shouldn't dissapear:confused:

    Anyway, you should make it so NPC's and players that take a certain ammount of damage over their threshold (trying to word this right, i mean something like when the resulting HP is -10), you should make them explode in a shower of gore. MEAT FOUNTAIN!!!

    Oh and by the way, in the first release, it didn't work in multiplayer, even if I do a server. Add a serverside version and you're my god.




    (i don't know if it's ok for multiplayer in this version, i can't try it by now...)

    Maybe try to limit different gibs to different models maybe? So you can get less random default gibs for each model. Would be quite amusing.

    Would it be possible if you could make it more like the gore in Postal 2? You know, severing body parts that don't explode, and blood fountain fron the neck after decapitation. Also, the guts and stuff that come out when you cut them in half. That would be awesome!

    Wow, great release. That's really fun to sling ragdolls around. It never gets old and now that I can make them into rippy bits, it's even more enjoyable. Good job, continue the work.

    I took a quick look at your code awhile ago... I think you were killing the gib model effect by returning false under EFFECT:Think() ?

    Even though that really should work, I'm guessing that this doesn't work for effects with models perhaps. So instead, just do self.Entity:Remove() or the like as well as returning false when the time runs out.

    Wow! This is great. good coding.
    I just have I question, can you make the gib parts disappear? like after 5 minutes or 20 seconds or something, it's causing big lag in my gmod.

    If you do it to a lot of people, then the gibs will all start to stack up/effect FPS, no I don't have a shit computer.

    It's not working for me.

    I tried extracting the whole folder to addons, no luck. Then I tried just taking the data and lua folders and putting them in the 2nd garrysmod folder. Still no luck. I also can't grab the fucking dead NPC's body what gives?

    Would it be possible to make the NPC's body lose it's limbs based on where you shoot them when they are ALIVE?

    it would be awesome to, as mentioned in the other thread...

    .... to shoot a combine with a powerful gun, and watch as he loses the limb you shot him in :holy: without having to kill him first to get the ragdoll

    i'm sure there is SOME solution for this out there
