    Hello again.

On a whim I just bought a new 940 from Newegg after seeing the price had dropped.

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103471

I will be running it on the stock fan it comes with and I am wondering what type of results people have gotten from trying to overclock it. I currently have a Phenom I 9600 and it doesn't overclock very well.

This will be my first 3 ghz stock processor. Yay!

By the way next week I will be wanting to buy a CPU cooler to get maximum overclocking performance. Any recommendations?

(By the way I have an Asus M3A32-MVP motherboard)

Depending on your budget, the Freezer 64 is a great cooler.

The 940 is a great overclocker, by the way.

My budget is about $70 and I am happy to hear that :)

If you've got $70, consider a TRUE or Prolimatech Megahalems.

The Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 was awesome.

    It's cheap as hell too.

I'm game for getting a great cooler for low price, just cause I have $70 to spend doesn't mean I will.

I do want to get the most I can out of air cooling, though.

The Core-Contact Freezer is a nice cooler, as well as the Freezer 64.
You get what you pay for.

By the way guys I might as well post here, if I wanted to buy a new case for <$200 what would you recommend? I am not looking for show offy things like lights. I am looking for a well constructed feature packed case. Cable management, good airflow, lots of space, etc are some things I am looking for.

The HAF dropped my GTX 295's temps by about 8 C. Which is good considering it'd hit 93 C in Crysis before I got scared and closed the game.

    Yeah, it cools really well.

And IIRC someone on here has changed the fans to green and has a super-fast green HAF. Not sure who it is, though.

I like the hint of red on the front.

My current case literally lights up my room. I hate it. There are shadows from the fan grills on my wall.

The one thing I'm not a fan of about the HAF are the power/HDD lights.
    So fucking bright.

I might get that cooler too, I have the same CPU, haven't tried overclocking before, but it seems like it is pretty easy these days? is it?

I love how after Prismatex posted that one thread he keeps getting rated optomistic.

    54c idle.

I had to up the voltage to 1.5 after some crashes. I really didn't want to, but whatever.

Edit: By the way, what's a good cpu stress tool?

    Edited:

    About 68c under load.

I just did (btw it's Prime95). I found the sweet spot for my setup.

I could probably get more out of it since I have all my case fans on low and 2 of them off so the airflow isn't that great. Maybe I'll do that tomorrow.

I have an Antec 900 and I have switched some of the fan directions around, what configuration would be the best?

There are 2 120mm fans on the front, one at the rear, and a 200mm on top.

I'd say 2 on front intake, 2 towards the back exhaust.
