A couple of weeks back I installed the beta for this new MMO called Aion. The only thing I can tell you about it is that it's in beta and it uses Gameguard as an anti-cheat software. I'm not sure if that info will help me figure out my problem, but I might as well mention it. Anyways, ever since I installed it, when I exit the game, Windows Vista (32-bit) runs very very slow. My physical memory usage is at 1.7Gb out of 2.0Gb and it takes about 5 minutes for it to idle at 700Mb. Also the most annoying part is that in Firefox, when I load a new webpage, if it has a gif or and image of any sort, my computer will lock up until the image is done loading. So browsing the LMAO Pictures thread is basically hell for my computer.
During the Closed Beta 3 of Aion this problem never happened, this started happening as soon as I started playing the Closed Beta 4 (last weekend). So I was thinking about uninstalling the game but I'm not sure if that would help because I still get lag spikes even if I'm not playing it. To be honest just as I finished typing this sentence, Windows just locked up but I kept typing and my sentence appeared 5 seconds later. So it even happens when I'm typing or doing anything at all.
I've tried Diskeeper, CCleaner, Disk Cleanup, Registry Cleanups. I have absolutely no idea what else to do and this is the first time I have ever experienced this problem. My specs are as follows: Intel C2D e6300 @ 3.0 Ghz, 2Gb G.Skill Ram, ATi x1950xt. What can I do to fix this? Thanks for any help.
