If you want to make those big, snazzy desktop icons for Windows Vista but don't want to fuck around with shitty, bloated software like Axialis IconWorkshop™ then I highly recommend this website:

It's a free, quick, easy website that converts PNG files into icons and vice versa.

How to use it:
1. Make a 256x256 PNG image in your favorite image editor
2. Go to http://converticon.com/
3. Click "Browse" and select your image (make sure you choose PNG in the dropdown box)
4. Click "Export". For Windows Vista, check all of the boxes in the left column
5. Click "Save as..."
6. ?????
7. PROFIT

good idea for people that can't save directly to an ICO though

I used http://www.convertico.com/ before I switched to W7, which just disables all usage of custom icons in the games explorer.

I've never really got the hang of IconWorkshop (I just like to make vector icons), but keep in mind we're just doing simple PNG to ICO shit here.

Well, it's bloated if all you want to do is convert a PNG to an ICO. If you know how to use Photoshop or even Paint.NET then 99% of IconWorkshop's features are completely unnecessary.

I also tried a couple different ICO plugins for Photoshop but they were all pretty shitty. None of them let me choose which sizes to include in the ICO like ConvertIcon. Maybe I just didn't look hard enough.
