I for one an enjoying the game. I don't play it for hours on end, I just play it when I'm relaxing with Voyager on in the background. It isn't great but it isn't flat out awful or anything (well some bits are). I would say that I'm not bored of it, but that's probably because I suck so bad that I've been playing 40 hours (according to Steam - I think it's closer to 60) and I'm still not a LC yet.

I don't think it's the repetitiveness and bad pvp that's bringing it down, I think it's just lack of good missions. When 90% of them, from what I've seen anyway, are destroy/scan/collect X objects, it's bound to get repetitive. What also annoys me is that they said there's be diplomatic solutions where available, and the closest thing I've come across so far that's remotely like that is one where you have to answer questions about miners, which a five year old could have done without even reading what anyone had been saying. I doubt I can talk though seeing as how I'm not that far into the game yet though.

T4-5 pvp is terribly bad, if you managed to play t4-5 pvp in any beta stage fair enough but you can't really say that right now otherwise.

although I agree on the lack of good missions.

All the idiot developers, who can't make a game without rushing it out for quick money, keep getting the Trek gaming license :(
Star trek Bridge Commander was a pretty neat game.

And with a mod for Star Trek: Elite Force you can roleplay on a map that closely resembles the interior of a ship.

Edit: I still wish perpetual didn't sell the rights to Cryptic.

To be fair, it isn't Cryptic's fault. They're still a good developer in my eyes. Thing is when CBS sold them the rights, they set a deadline for 2 years. That's a very small period of time to make an MMO in.

So true. Of the 5 people in my group of friends that play the game, only 1 of us absolutely loves the game. Guess what subscription he got.

Sadly that was almost a decade ago, I miss the times on Interplay.

I thought Atari was giving them a 20 million bonus if they got it out in 2 years.

I've lost count of the number of hours I spent playing Elite Force I. It's by far the best Star Trek game made.

Well I gave STO a try via Buddykey a friend gave me... It's not bad ... It kind of mixes EvE with the early days of skill progression from Star Wars Galaxies, both great games, (Although SWG was only great before they ruined it with CU and NGE)

And I can only see it getting better as more is added, Although I don't know how much 'End-Game' content there is, if any, or if there are any competent enough people to handle Raids... I say that because in the Crystalline Entity fleet action, I sat there shouting at everyone to NOT shoot the crystal fragments, for it heals the entity, yet everyone just kept shooting them...

Finally got a heavy cruiser the other day. As much as I love having four phaser banks firing at once, I sort of miss my old ship. It just seemed much better in some way.

This. I've always been intrigued, but since it seems to be a "those who like it like it a lot, those who don't hate it" deal, I'm not going to go all out and pay for it.

Okay for everyone who is like "SWTOR IS GONNA BE BETTERZ" we don't even know what it's going to be like. Just because Bioware is making it does not making the best thing evar. STO is a very fun game in my opinion and I'm in no hurry to cancel my subscription.

I don't see an active thread for this, so I just went back in my posts to find the original thread I made back before the beta. The point is, I want to make a Facepunch fleet. This game did get boring for a bit, but the last couple of updates made it really good (not to mention the player-made missions). I've noticed a pretty large gain in popularity lately, which is only going to get larger because it's going to be free-to-play on January 17.

I remember this game. I didn't enjoy it much but it did have some of the best damn space combat I've ever played in an mmo (outside of EvE of course). I wish TOR managed to capture the space in STO. I might try it out when it goes F2P.
