I'm referring to the general look. The GP4 looks like a GP5 it's just black with extra bits and bullshit.

    gp4 is green mang

and the entire diaphragm section is thinner compared to the gp5 and it only takes filters via hose

    Edited:

from a distance though, they look almost the same and the gp5 provides an adequete substitute

I think GP-5's are ABSOLUTELY appropriate. I mean, first of all. Snorks.

    Second of all: Concept art

Third, there are still thousands and thousands of those masks still in circulation around the world and especially in ex-Soviet countries.

Fourth- GP-5's can actually be found IN the Chernobyl Zone. Granted most of the been busted open by salvagers for metal but they kept crates of them in the basements of all the schools and hospitals etc.

They literally grow on trees in Chernobyl:
I think you missed my point somewhat. Whether it's realistic or not to have a GP-5 in Chernobyl doesn't have any bearing on its matching the game. It might be completely unrealistic to have LR-300s in Chernobyl, but they're in the game, so a LR-300 would fit a STALKER loadout. Absolute realism isn't the goal, it's about matching the game, and regardless of how common GP-5s are in the Zone or whether its close relative is in some concept art, it's visually distinct from the masks in the game and I think that detracts from the look a bit.

Those STALKER costumes are extremely well done, but I definitely think it would be improved by replacing the GP-5 with an Israeli or Czech mask. There's a distinction between STALKER and more general post-apoc, and I don't think just any vaguely Russian-themed post-apocalyptic loadout can or should be called a STALKER loadout.

I know that probably seems really specific and pedantic, and it kind of is, but I'm really not making a big deal out of it. I really like those photos, GP-5 or not. I just think that they would be even better with a different mask that better fit the game itself, to make it seem like they came straight out of the game itself, which seems to have been the goal of the photos given the backgrounds on each.

Hey guys any idea for a glasses-friendly mask? I wear glasses because I'm nearsighted and I don't want them fogging up. Thanks.

I can explain this in detail if I really have too but the bottom line is.

You're going to have to spend a little money if you don't want to end up wasting hundreds in the long run while constantly dealing with foggy ill-fitted masks.

    So one word- Revision.

You can get Revision Sawfly's glasses on Ebay for like $20 surplus never used. All you need to do after that is go to their website and fill out an RX prescription sheet and fax it to them. It'll cost you $100 but they'll send you snap-in inserts that work with all of their glasses and goggles so you can see. If you need the info you can contact whoever you order your glasses from and they'll usually be happy to tell you whatever you need to know.

Alternately Revision sells a number of goggles but they range from $100 to $150 with and without the fan respectively (I recommend the fan for maximum no-fog)

    Or you get contacts.

There are literally no other options for you. I know from experience.

Contact lenses. No other way, your glassess WILL get fogged up no matter what. Unless you play in cold.

This is my attempt at a Stalker load out (not finished). The Gorka just arrived today so everything looks too new.
If you want some photos of the back just let me know and i'll take some tonight.
Please give me some suggestions on how to make this loadout look better!!

I would suggest putting the patches on the uniform itself. I also think you could use more storage space for general stuff- definitely a backpack of some sort, and maybe a belt with some utility pouches. Otherwise looks great.

Cheers! Yeah that beige strap is attached to a Ukrainian bag/satchel. Temporarily using it as a backpack for now.

Is there something preventing you from sewing them onto either the shoulder or the upper-arm pouch like any other patch?

Looks pretty good visually, would the fan stop it from fogging up, or just keep it cool?

Fan in the filter is neat idea though. Could maybe do that for real gas mask filters?

Actually Timebomb pointed out to me that it's not rubber, so it's effectively just a hard plastic mask with the general shape of a gas mask. Since I already have a working respirator setup it's not worth getting for me.

Installing a fan in a hollowed filter would be a piece of cake, small ones can just drop in and glue in place.

How useful would it be? I've got a couple of smallish fans i never installed in my PC, might fit in the filter i've been working on hollowing out.

Also, how the fuck do you hollow a filter out without destroying it? I managed to dremel through the mesh at the back and remove the charcoal, but the mesh holding the wool in at the front is proving a bastard to get out.

I know fitting a fan in would involve cutting the filter open but i just mean if i wanted to hollow out the one i've got normally without cutting it apart.

I just took a hacksaw to mine along the little dimple in the middle, then epoxy putty'd over during reassembly.

Intending to make it dirty, just took it out of the closet after washing it off from last game. The coat itself has a dirty brownish-green tone due to the dye used, but it doesn't show up well on my POS camera.
