That's the great thing about this country, we are able to criticize our government and able to criticize our society without having to move out of the country even though we don't support it in the way we should. I love when people try and act patriotic although Voltaire, the enlightenment philosopher we used for most of our conceptual ideas said... "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it".

You are not a patriot, you are not patriotic in any form by saying "If you don't like AMERIKA then GET OUT", you're an ignorant fucktard that deserves to get hit by a bus.

Also both sides of this argument is fucking retarded.
This post is kind of ironic.

Why is this in the news. Who gives a shit?

Don't like it? Go to another gym.

Christ I see at least 15 American flags just driving to the GROCERY store and that isn't even counting the ones people put on their houses. Lots of businesses put up over sized American flags.

Saying that it's a "religious symbol" is pretty damn ridiculous.

Because moving yourself, your family, and all your possessions from one country to another is easy and cheap.
    Because a flag is offensive.

Not really. People both equate religion with it and are nationalistic enough to regard it AS a religious figure.

IMHO If you guys need flags all over the place to remember yourselves you're americans, then your patriotism feelings are messed up. I don't need coloured pieces of cloth waving in front porches or forum avatars reminding me where I'm from.

Oh, and America is a continent, k?

I guess. Never heard of someone complaining because there was an American flag being displayed somewhere before though. Then again I tend to avoid the news altogether unless it's local.

So you tend to be completely ignorant of the world around you.

It depends where you go. Large tourism spots such as NYC or Washington DC have them everywhere, most rural areas and other cities do not. I live in a very average suburb, the flag isn't too common, maybe one every tenth house. (not that many houses either)

it says a lot about the united states that a flag every 10 houses "isn't too common"

It's not being ignorant if I'm not shutting out news and current events. I just wouldn't pick the news as something to watch before I'm about to start my day. I don't mind people talking about it and I even get involved in discussion if it's something worth discussing. But like I said, I just don't favor the news channel. If that means me being behind on some things, then alright. I don't want to hear about a bunch of people being massacred somewhere before I head off to do my daily things. If anything, I'd rather hear about that kind of thing at the end of the day so it'll give me something to think about before bed.
