where do you people live that you have to live in constant fear of a burglar?

It seems to me the only people who constantly worry about trespassers are gun owners and keep their guns loaded near them.

I didn't buy a gun in fear of getting robbed. I feared getting a gun until I go robbed.

Thank you, I'm glad you can see where I'm coming from.
    That is an acceptable worry.

Accually, I am a humanitarian. I would always rather try and find a diplomatic solution at any situation regardless of whats at hand.
So you wouldn't try to scare the home invader away, you would just shoot.

Oh, and FYI, chances are the person who breaks in would rather kill you then let you live and identify him in a police report of some kind. Because they are afraid of being caught.
If I'm going to rob a house, I'd cover my face.

and I'd rather go to jail for 7 years for robbery then life for murder. this is basic logic

"I live in the hardest part of town but I don't carry a means of self defense, even though it could be argued I may need it more than others, because I value all life, which means I put my own life at more of a risk than is necessary to save the life of a scumbag attacker. This means that you should too and if you don't, you're a filthy piece of shit in my eyes."
There is a population of about 3000 in Ballymun. About half don't carry firearms

1500 people don't carry guns because they want to be cool?

What the fuck goes on in your head? I'm going for nothing

What are you talking about? He just came for tea.
This is the superficial shit I'm talking about. The only points YOU specifically can come up with, is something I never said, implied, or would agree with.

expert touch, I'm sure you get all the ladies.

What you have to realize is that sometimes there is no other option. The scumbag OBVIOUSLY wasn't deterred by the mere presence of a shotgun. Had she had not shot him, he wouldn't have stopped. There would be a totally different outcome.

Sad thing is, is that most people who break into your house don't use basic logic, hence why they've broken into your home. These people are looking to steal your stuff insted of buy their own stuff.

Theres also the fact that they might be on something, so why risk your own life by not shooting to save your own?

Also, I find it funny how your trying so hard to pick my point apart when you could just leave it alone.

The moral of this story is: "Don't break into peoples homes, it may be the last thing you do, ever."

I'd be a little more cautious when aiming, a simple arm or leg shot would have done the job.

Good for her. I would have done the same thing, myself, only I have a 12 gauge instead of a 16 gauge.

I, too, am curious as to what was in the shell. I'm guessing it was buckshot.

This thread disturbs me more than the news article.

It doesn't seem like a good idea to fire a gun in the middle of a conversation with the police, but then I guess there wasn't much of an alternative given the situation.

We'd already established that 15 pages ago.
