I liked Sherlock Holmes much more than this.
I liked Sherlock Holmes much more than this.
Just think if it was in 3D.
I really liked the movie so that means that I'm a real moron, right?
I absolutely hated Transformers 1 & 2, but that doesn't mean that I should go to forums/threads about that flick and start trolling all the people who liked it.
It just a waste of time.
Taste is subjective.
It's not about making something unseen before is all of cinema, that's a fucking fool's errand. It's about making something that's your own, and Avatar isn't Jame's Camerons. It was once but it's not now. Now it's the product of his fucking handlers and his hired yes men who alternate giving complements and blow jobs for a living.
The movie is a washed out piece of nothing. It's soulless and empty, and you people eat it and call it fucking designer chocolate.
Don't you fucking get it? Beyond the effects, and the actors, and the 3D glasses and vibrating chairs movie making is about taking something that you feel and can't express in any other way than to make a story of it. It comes from a need, from a wanting more powerful than lust or greed, and when that feeling is put into a movie, then it becomes a god damned movie.
And that's slipping in this fucking country. Now it's all about explosions, and action, and sports cars and busty vapid whores who couldn't act to save their lives. And it's because people would rather watch a movie about undead pretty boys and blue space cats than something that has all the soul that both of those things sorely lack.
The fact Transformers 2 and both Twilight movies are so excessively popular sort of makes me lose faith in humanity.
I want my fucking Blade Runner back, I haven't seen a good Sci Fi movie (as in, excellent plot) in a decade (again, as in watching it in theaters.)
Oh, that' only the tip of the shit iceberg.
Debate the movie if you want guys but don't go bashing each other for liking or not liking the film. Play nice or you're going to get banned.
I honestly feel that the reason they changed the script from the 1995 one to its current incarnation is because people wouldn't like the "deeper meanings" and fancy things like, "Plot."
Yeah, I agree on that.
I hope that the extended cut (if there will be one) shows more complexity in the story and more development on the characters.
I loved this movie.
But it was too allegorical. Also it felt like Dances With Wolves.
This movie promotes furry secks.
After watching it in 2D I had the opportunity to see it in 3D, I decided against it. When it came to the time I could have been watching it I began to regret my decision, but then I found out that the cinema had been evacuated 3/4 through anyway![]()
I FUCKING LOVE AVATAr
Well i'm certainly getting this on DVD when it comes out.
Will it have some sort of 3D option on it or just be 2D altogether?
And I see your point, I like a good movie that has a good story line to it. For example the Godfather Part 1 was a great movie, it did not have much action in it but, it didn't need to. All I was saying was the way the movies are moving, its hard for them to take that risk and not do the big effects. Yes their is some of us like me and you who like a good story but, they don't care about what we think. Its all about making money and pleasing the mass population. And thats not to say that a movie like avatar could still have the same effects and a good story line at the same time. Oh well whats done is done.
This movie will be the first Bluray movie I get.
All I know is that I was rooting for the humans the whole way through.
Imperialism is cool, and being a beneficiary of imperialism in the past, I have no problem with it. That article on white guilt in movies sums up my thoughts completely.
No you weren't. You were probably sitting in the theaters with your arms crossed thinking of how much cooler you are than everyone else. I get it, you didn't like them from the beginning because they had long hair (long hair fucking sucks btw) and looked like native americans, but you didn't root for the humans, ok?
I notice that to, that the aliens acted much like native americans.
Definitely seeing it again
Just you wait.
Seeing it again this weekend.
What?
You people are dissecting the movie a bit to much. Except it for what it is. A fucking epic show of current technology and the alien world James Cameron projects.
Cool effects and everything... but the story was crappy.
i hated all the fucking propaganda they put on it, it's not event half of they say, pretty much a hyped movie.
It's James Cameron we're talking about here, we've seen pretty much every director (Peter Jackson is the exception, apparently) resort to using CGI to show their story, rather then sheer plot. Cameron was the last "great" director to fall into this trap.
Saying "It's shitty on purpose." doesn't make it any less shitty.
Saying "It's shitty on purpose." doesn't make it any less shitty.
The waterfall doesn't magically spring out of nowhere on the edge of the cliff.
Look at your own image, you can see a stream coming from fairly far away.
It takes a fucking lot of plants to create enough excess condensation to create a waterfall.
Reposting that this movie is visually the best movie ever, and is a truly fucking excellent movie all round.
So is this like 2012 in the sense that it's only worth seeing for the effects? But better effects then 2012?
This, times 100,000.
Why is it always movies with dogshit plots that become box office mega-hits, but movies with good plots get less than 1/100th the attention?
Are people really that retarded?
This movie really did raise the bar. Everything was top notch with the exception of the story.
2012 is tongue-in-cheek and knows it's dumb and makes fun of itself.
James Cameron thinks he's changing the fucking world and telling THE GREATEST STORY MAN HAS EVER KNOWN.
I spent the whole movie thinking "Why so serious?"

It was pretty good. One of the better movies I've seen. I'd like to see it in 3D, but there isn't anyplace nearby playing it in 3D, and I seriously doubt that I can find it less legally.
No one will remember this eye candy film by Summer next year, you can all stop bitching now.
I always remember good films for ages.
I saw Into the Wild in 2007, thought it was fucking amazing, and I still watch it every few months.
Same with a lot of Documentaries, like BBC Planet Earth and a lot of IMAX films, just because they're so fucking visually stunning.
(I watch them all on a 1080p projector btw :smug:)
Overrated, overhyped but still a good movie. VERY pretty but I didn't like the romance and lack of blood/gore to living shit up. District 9 tops it if you ask me.
This and "The shawshank redemption" are my two favorite films of all time.
Same, Except if they release this in sequential 3D format, I can watch it in 3D with my shutter glasses :smug:
If you're trying to compare district 9 and avatar, stop.
Peter Jackson apparently did it for Lovely Bones, from what I've read from the reviews.
comparing doesn't just cover similarities you know.
