This is my problem right here. People look at reviews before they go out to see a movie.
I used to do this when I didn't know any better, but I realized something. If I was interested in a movie and go read a critic's review and the critic hated the movie, I'm going into that theater expecting to hate it as well, and just waiting for the first mistake of the movie so the entire movie-watching experience expectedly gets ruined for me.
When a critic says that it's great, I go into the movie over-emphasizing the good parts in my head, and even if I don't think that it's all that great, I would exclude my own thoughts of the movie just so I can be like everyone else and say that it's great.
This is my problem with this film. I'll be honest, it is the most overrated film that I have ever seen.
Unlike most/all of you, I went into the movie like I always go into the movie. The only things that I know of the movie is that it has DiCaprio and Ellen Page. Never read a review. Avoided every trailer and commercial thrown at me.
I feel like this movie was an 8/10 at best.
It's a shame how everyone loves to hop onto the bandwagon of it being amazing, or movie of the year.
For instance, last night I saw Black Swan. I had NO idea what the movie was about. At all. Never saw a review, trailer, or commercial. All I saw was the poster of the movie when I looked up movie times at my local theater. That movie is Oscar-type -- not Inception. At all.
I really wish that people could open up their eyes and self-analyze movies on their own without being biased based on other people's opinions, that were originally influenced by others.
It's about time someone stepped up and said something. Reminds me of the Emperor's New Clothes story. The movie is naked ffs.
I see a movie based of the trailer/teaser content.
If a movie has a bad trailer, its a bad movie.
Never steered me wrong.
