I think you are supposed to connect the related numbers in chronological order
for example, every picture of an equation features a number or letter that is circled in yellow
perhaps if you connected these characters together it would make something sensible

I just got through to that "BBS" number on my laptop with HyperTerminal. It rang several times then the modem sound came on, but HyperTerminal wasn't registering anything. The number isn't sending even so much as a Welcome screen or a login prompt to me.
