But I think the brostep "scene" will become stagnant and cliched if Skrillex doesn't reinvent himself or someone else doesn't innovate.
    Praying for the day really.

Not negative just honest, Brostep doesn't progress the genre. It just stifles it, putting as much noise into a new tune seems to be a new way of dick waving in Dubstep right now.

Just my opinion really, I'm not discounting the other producers who stick to ''quieter'' Dubstep, it's just the mainstream ones who think ''people know Dubstep as this noisy, bassy genre, let's put excessive amounts of both into my tunes''.

I do enjoy the trance-y way that some have gone though.

I've yet to see a successful producer with that mindset.

It was more of a reference to Skrillex's material that for some reason people go crazy for, I've seen other (non-Dubstep) producers and DJs try to mimic his style.

So do you dislike that "noisy" style when it's not executed properly, or dislike it period?

Just when it's not executed properly, disliking it period would be a bit silly since that's how I got into Dubstep tbh.

Who's the best for all the aggressive dubstep and the ambiet/atmospheric stuff? i just started getting into it
My latest set should cover the aggressive part:

You can see a full tracklist on my mixcloud

As for the chill stuff, Bar 9 makes a lot of good subdued raggae dub. Check out their song Distant Roots for an example

I think this is the first time Ellie has done vocals specifically for a dubstep song. Funny since she has been used in so many.

Of course not. It's because her songwriting is pretty generic and bland and so is the production.

But she's got a really nice voice. When you mix that with good dubstep it literally makes her more interesting.

Fair points, but A) her songwriting and production is NOWHERE FUCKING NEAR as generic as Bieber's, and B) saying that dubstep remixes are highlights of her career is just plain not true, considering she's had several #1 singles and picked up numerous awards.

God fucking dammit, broke mah automerge again!

Anyway, enough Ellie chat, back to the dubstep.

You really live up to your name, learn to auto-merge lol.

And maybe it's not as generic as Bieber, but it's sure as hell generic as the plethora of mainstream pop artists out there. The highlight thing was kind of a joke. It's just the only thing I can personally appreciate of her.
