I have been learning PHP on and off for a couple of years, I want to read a book to make sure I'm not missing anything and to gain a better understanding of the language.

Anyone know a good book or website?
And sorry if you are one of those guys who doesn't believe in books, I don't either but in this case I believe that it will give me a more structured understanding of the language.

For websites, w3schools has a nice reference, and for just function documentation (and lots of comments) php.net is perfect, which you can use like php.net/explode for the function explode, php.net/json_encode etc (howto)

I'd reccomend The Complete PHP Reference by Steve Holzner.

Best way of learning is to find actual completed codes of other people which are commented and try to understand it and learn at the same time.
    That's my personal experience.

I cannot recommend any PHP books myself; but maybe just check over Amazon and look for reviews.

You may find completing a simple application/tutorial would help too.

if you have google chrome you can get this extension: https://chrome.google.com/extensions...hncgdnhd?hl=en
its basically a toolbar button that you enter a query and it takes you to the php website and finds what you're looking for
